Job Overview:
The Vice President Development position at the American Heart Association in Austin, TX, is a pivotal role responsible for leading and managing fundraising campaigns. Duties and Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include leading and managing a team of four direct reports, ensuring accountability and support for achieving ambitious fundraising goals. The VP will oversee development and fundraising campaigns, guiding staff teams to achieve bold revenue targets through effective campaign development and volunteer engagement. The role also involves strategically positioning the Austin market for aggressive growth in unrestricted revenue, targeting $1,550,000 in campaign revenue, and expanding the major gifts program to $1M+ within three years. Additionally, the VP will identify, recruit, onboard, and engage medical and non-medical volunteer partners, ensuring diverse community representation and empowering them to champion fundraising success.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, along with three years of experience in a development position within a similar non-profit organization. At least one year of management experience, preferably with development or fundraising staff, is required. The ideal candidate will have experience leading and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-suite level, direct knowledge of special event fundraising tactics, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. The role requires the ability to travel within the Austin area daily and access to reliable transportation. Professional communication skills and the ability to lift and/or move large objects are also necessary.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position, although equivalent work experience may be considered. The educational background should ideally be related to non-profit management, fundraising, or a similar field that supports the responsibilities of the role.
