Job Overview: The Director of Business Operations plays a crucial role in supporting the National Center office of the American Heart Association, specifically within the Quality, Outcomes, Research & Analytics, and Clinical Research departments. This position is pivotal in establishing and maintaining an effective project management framework that enhances operational efficiency and ensures alignment across various teams. The Director will manage a master project list, oversee resource allocation, and facilitate cross-functional coordination. Additionally, the role involves developing standardized processes to improve efficiency, implementing innovative strategies for tracking and reporting, and enhancing accountability and transparency in departmental projects. The Director will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for improved oversight of interdependent activities and maintaining an external collaboration and relationship map.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Director of Business Operations will facilitate and manage the departmental project management framework, collaborating with project leads to ensure accuracy and maintain a master list of historical and active projects. Key responsibilities include overseeing the development and implementation of staffing allocation management, vendor contract and invoice tracking, and relationship tracking to ensure compliance. The Director will provide project management support and strategic reporting to leadership, implement standardized procedures to scale operations, and foster cross-functional communication. Financial modeling and analysis for projects will also be part of the role, along with managing the operations project support team to ensure timely and accurate performance of responsibilities. The Director will identify data needs for project analysis, develop continuous process improvement strategies, and provide input for short and long-term department planning. Regular updates to departmental policies and procedures will be required, along with facilitating training to promote awareness among staff.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience, along with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in project management. The ability to develop and maintain effective project management frameworks is essential, as is experience in identifying opportunities for scalability and efficiency. Candidates should be skilled in financial modeling, ROI analysis, and sustainability assessments. Strong data evaluation skills and knowledge of audit and compliance frameworks are necessary, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build partnerships across teams. Experience in fast-paced environments and the ability to manage change effectively are also required.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree is required for this position, with relevant experience considered as a substitute for formal education. Candidates should have a strong foundation in project management principles and practices, as well as familiarity with financial analysis and compliance frameworks.
Experience: The position requires 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in project management or a related field. Additional Notes: This is a full-time position with the possibility of remote work. The expected salary range is between $100,000 and $110,000, commensurate with experience.
