The organization focuses on providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters, addressing their basic needs for food, water, and shelter. SI is particularly dedicated to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, which is a leading cause of death globally. The organization operates in around twenty countries and employs approximately 2500 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, and volunteers. Job Overview:
The Basic Needs / FSL Coordinator is a key member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and operates under the supervision of the Solidarités International Emergency Desk. This position involves deploying to new missions in response to crises where SI decides to intervene. The role is divided between emergency deployments (70% of the time) and headquarters support (30% of the time). During emergency deployments, the coordinator conducts rapid needs assessments, analyzes urgent multi-sectorial needs, and manages the design and implementation of emergency interventions related to non-food items (NFI) and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security and livelihoods (FSL). The coordinator also provides training and technical support as needed. At headquarters, the coordinator supports SI’s Emergency Preparedness and Response strategy and contributes to internal knowledge building related to FSL and basic needs in emergencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The ERT Basic Needs/Food Security & Livelihood Coordinator is responsible for preparing, conducting, and formalizing initial multisectoral assessments. They will work with the ERT and desk team to define relevant intervention strategies based on the context. The coordinator manages the implementation of emergency interventions and represents SI for programmatic purposes in the countries of intervention. They also provide technical support on basic needs programming upon request from other program coordinators or regional directors. The role requires strong leadership and management skills to motivate and develop team members, make sound decisions in challenging situations, and work collaboratively with colleagues.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree, preferably a Master’s Degree, in a relevant field such as Agricultural Sciences, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods, global humanitarian studies, or economic sciences. Additionally, candidates should have over 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and more than 5 years in a similar position. Specific skills required include strong experience in emergency interventions in complex environments, knowledge of FSL project design and implementation, and familiarity with donor policies and guidelines, particularly with ECHO, BHA, or CDCS funding.

Educational Background:
A university degree is required, with a preference for a Master’s Degree in relevant fields such as Agricultural Sciences, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods, global humanitarian studies, or economic sciences. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian aid and the specific needs of affected populations.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar position. This experience should include strong involvement in emergency interventions and familiarity with cash-based programming and in-kind distribution. Previous experience in the opening phase of missions is also an asset, as is experience working with Solidarités International or similar organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and coordination in diverse international contexts, especially in emergency situations where clear communication is critical.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role with a starting salary of EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2600 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem is provided depending on the deployment. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The contract duration is for 1 year, with breaks implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs, as well as essential vaccinations and antimalarial treatments.
