In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system, which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment:

> International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW)
> Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI)
> United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM)
The main roles of UN Women are:
> To support inter-governmental bodies, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, in their formulation of policies, global standards and norms.
> To help Member States to implement these standards, standing ready to provide suitable technical and financial support to those countries that request it, and to forge effective partnerships with civil society.
> To lead and coordinate the UN system’s work on gender equality as well as promote accountability, including through regular monitoring of system-wide progress.

Job Overview: The State Coordinator-Rajasthan will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination and implementation of UN Women's program activities in Rajasthan. Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate the implementation of project activities in Rajasthan, ensuring alignment with UN Women’s objectives.
Develop mechanisms to monitor the implementation of planned activities and budgets effectively.
Coordinate key meetings, conferences, and training sessions, preparing detailed reports and minutes.
Manage project activities in accordance with results-based management requirements, ensuring timely evaluations and adjustments.
Synthesize lessons learned and best practices from the project for knowledge sharing and reporting. 1

Required Qualifications:
A strong understanding of gender equality issues and the challenges faced by women and girls, particularly in the context of violence and discrimination.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly in financial management and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build effective partnerships.
Familiarity with the development context in Rajasthan, particularly regarding inclusive growth and human development.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Rural Development, Gender Studies, Policy, or related fields is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of gender issues and the socio-economic factors affecting women in the targeted sectors.
Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience at the national or state level, specifically working with development projects. This experience should include hands-on involvement in the design, implementation, and monitoring of projects, preferably in areas related to violence against women and women's rights. Experience in managing partnerships with government agencies, civil society, and other stakeholders is also highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English and Hindi is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN official working language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to UN Women’s global initiatives.
