Responsibilities
The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Manager Financial Reporting in our National Center office located in Dallas, Texas .
In this role, you will be responsible for management and oversight of financial reporting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Additional responsibilities include supervising activities related to AHA’ s financial reporting systems, technical accounting matters, audit management and related financial reporting projects.
Essential Job Duties:
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and supplemental analysis to support review of financial results with senior leadership.
- Develop and initiate process improvements to scale and optimize the financial reporting process. Leverage AHA’s financial reporting system (Hyperion Essbase) to provide appropriate and accurate reports for analysis.
- Prepare annual financial statements and footnotes in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Lead technical accounting research and evaluation in a variety of areas. Work cross functionally to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and prepare memos and analysis supporting conclusions.
- Directs and monitors support operations as well as holds training for new and existing staff on AHA accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and manage the annual financial statement audit by external auditors.
- Facilitate/coordinate the process of implementing new accounting standards to ensure timely compliance.
- Prepare and coordinate financial data for external distribution and internal analysis (e.g. survey requests, watch dog agencies, peer benchmarking, etc.)
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area including active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with the preparation, review and analysis of financial statements; general ledger accounting and financial analysis.
- Extensive understanding of U.S. GAAP, including interpretation and application of accounting standards.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to identify, promote, and implement change and efficiencies.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; hands on experience with ERP systems.

- Public Accounting Experience
