Job Description

Context: Under overall supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator (Refugee Response), and the direct supervision of the Recovery and Stabilization Programme Officer (Refugee Response), the successful candidate will carry out preliminary research and analysis in support of the information management and reporting requirements of the various projects implemented in the Recovery and Stabilization Unit. Core Functions / Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in maintaining update records on all relevant project information and results data such as project locations, beneficiary data (disaggregated by age and gender), project partners and other stakeholders.
  2. Maintain an internal RSU database of all relevant project documents and agreements as reference materials.
  3. Assist in drafting elements or components of update and summary reports for subsequent internal use based on project or programme objectives, workplans and time frames set by project documents and agreements.
  4. Prepare preliminary analyses of quantitative data and findings of collected data. Based on instructions, prepare infographics, graphs, maps and tables to be included in supplementary reports and updates.
  5. By linking the information management database to reporting, assist in drafting visually attractive impact materials and presentations for the Refugee Response Department.
  6. Collect, compile and provide necessary information and inputs to be used for the preparation of timely and accurate donor reports on ongoing and completed projects.
  7. Based on instructions from the Public Information Unit and GIS staff, where applicable, assist in preparing accurate and effective data presentations, graphics and maps.
  8. Research information, data and various needs assessments and reports prepared by humanitarian partners and other actors to understand and participate in the analysis of developments as they relate to the programme.
  9. Participate in field visits to International Organization for Migration (IOM) project sites as maybe required for the conduct of the above mentioned tasks.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be required.
Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

• Master’s degree in Political or Social Science, International Relations, Humanitarian affairs or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or • University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

• Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports; • Very good experience in data analysis and statistics, familiar with using data analysis tools such as Stata and R script; • Familiarity with similar initiatives such as displacement tracking and needs assessment programmes; • Experience of using reporting tools in building reports and dashboards (Tableau preferred); • Experience of numerical and other analysis and interpretative techniques; • Data management and quality assurance working experience in a similar role, at a similar level; • Proven experience in the region.

Skills

• Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, databases and spreadsheets and able to quickly learn new IT packages; • Demonstrated analytical, planning and people management skills; • Good understanding of conflict situations;

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. External applicants for all positions in the Professional category are required to be proficient in English and have at least a working knowledge of one additional UN Language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian or Chinese). For all applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Fluency in Arabic is an advantage. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
