Project Summary:
The Afghanistan Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Activity (AMELA) provides monitoring, evaluation, and learning
support services/assistance to strengthen the implementation of USAID development programs in Afghanistan, and to build the technical monitoring and evaluation (M&E) knowledge and skills of USAID/Afghanistan Mission staff and stakeholders. The services provided under AMELA will contribute to supporting USAID/Afghanistan as an effective development organization with strong learning and adaptive management processes.
Regional
Agricultural Development Program – East (RADP-E) provides technical services to targeted agribusinesses to increase the competitiveness of apricot, dairy, tomato, and poultry value chains with the goal of expanding
sustainable agriculture-led
economic growth in eight target provinces of Eastern Afghanistan. The project is designed to provide technical services to the private sector and producers with the primary aim of increasing their competitiveness through upgrades to products and services, and also improving linkages to buyers contributing to increase commercial viability of supported agribusinesses as well as to improve public and private agricultural services.

Position Summary:
The Private Sector Expert will assist in the
design, method, implementation of the evaluation specially in private sector
capacity building/assessment, analyzing the data and drafting the report with the
team leader. The Private Sector Expert will also report to the AMELA management team and the RADP-E
Team Lead. This position will have an estimated level of effort of 59 days and might require travel outside of Kabul if

Responsibilities:
- Support Team Lead with desk review, analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">technical analysis, and evaluation design
- Assist with designing evaluation tools, note taking, and translation into local languages
- Conduct key informant interviews and focus group discussions
- Establish and maintain productive collaborative relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders
- Support data collection
- Perform data analysis
- Assist Team Lead as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in development studies, social science, or relevant discipline required
- A minimum of three years of experience in private sector capacity building/assessment required
- Experience evaluating private sector projects and agricultural value chains in developing countries
- Fluency in Pashto and Dari required
- Strong communication and writing skills in English required
