Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located within the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications, specifically in the Advocacy and Social Impact Section. The interns will be involved in the UN's Creative Community Outreach Initiative (CCOI) and the Messenger of Peace (MOP) Programme. The CCOI aims to foster partnerships with the global entertainment industry, while the MOP Programme coordinates advocacy efforts involving UN Messengers of Peace. Interns will gain hands-on experience in strategic communications, partnership engagement, digital outreach, and event planning, contributing to projects that assess and document outreach initiatives. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about advocacy and social impact, providing a unique opportunity to work closely with influential stakeholders in the entertainment and sports sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will work under the supervision of the Advocacy and Outreach team, contributing to various projects aimed at enhancing the UN's outreach efforts. Responsibilities include: conducting research and compiling background information on advocacy partnerships; assisting in the development of analytical reports and presentations; documenting communications campaigns and events; contributing to content development for UN advocacy platforms; collecting and analyzing engagement metrics; and supporting the review of partnership engagement activities. Interns will be expected to work full-time, five days a week, for a duration of six months, either starting on January 4, 2027, or February 1, 2027.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent); or be enrolled in or have completed the final year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While prior professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, and should detail any additional skills such as graphic design, photography, or video editing. The ability to draft emails, publications, and create social media posts is also desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be students in their final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion will be required during the application process. The educational background should ideally be in fields related to communications, public relations, international relations, or similar areas that align with the internship's focus.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, applicants should demonstrate relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This could include internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to communications, advocacy, or outreach.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's profile for the position.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns must provide their own hardware (computer), software, and internet connection. The internship is designed to be full-time and in-person in New York, with a commitment of 35 hours per week.
