Job Overview:
The Platform Expert position at EUROCONTROL involves a multifaceted role that requires the implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of both on-premises and cloud-based hosting solutions. This role is crucial for ensuring that the infrastructure meets the demands of modern air traffic management systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with various internal and external teams, including IT support, cloud engineers, and cyber experts, to deliver high-quality services. The position also entails acting as a service delivery manager for external contracts, ensuring that service performance is optimized and that all operational requirements are met. The role is designed for individuals who are proactive in monitoring service performance, managing lifecycle activities, and enhancing user experiences through effective communication and technical documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Platform Expert include:

• Implementing and managing on-premises and cloud-based hosting solutions, ensuring they are aligned with Infrastructure as Code principles.
• Acting as a service delivery manager for external service-provider contracts, coordinating tasks and monitoring workloads to meet objectives.
• Monitoring hosting services to optimize performance, capacity, and cloud consumption, ensuring efficient service delivery.
• Coordinating maintenance activities, updates, and major issue resolutions for platform infrastructure and hosted services.
• Collaborating with IT security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Officers to ensure security operations processes are adhered to by service providers.
• Gathering requirements from various stakeholders and translating them into technical specifications.
• Developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, including operational procedures and lifecycle documents.
• Providing technical expertise for platform modernization projects and participating in relevant studies and tasks.
• Reporting on service status, summaries, and roadmaps. 1

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed relevant third-level studies in fields such as Engineering or Computer Science, meeting the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 6 or

• For EQF Level 6, at least 4 years of relevant professional experience is required, while for EQF Level 7, a minimum of 3 years of experience is necessary. Candidates should possess experience in supporting large infrastructures, particularly in cloud solution design and management, with a focus on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Additionally, project management skills, reporting skills, and experience in IT service design are essential. Familiarity with virtualization stacks, scripting languages, and infrastructure as code tooling is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Candidates must meet the EQF Level 6 or 7 standards, which correspond to a bachelor's or master's degree, respectively. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of the role and effectively managing the technical aspects of the platform.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have substantial experience in relevant fields. Specifically, candidates should have at least 4 years of professional experience for those with an EQF Level 6 qualification, or 3 years for those with an EQF Level 7 qualification. Experience in managing large infrastructures, particularly in cloud environments, is crucial. Candidates should also demonstrate project management capabilities and a strong understanding of IT service design and maintenance.

Languages:
Proficiency in English at level C1 is mandatory for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the Agency. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of French is also beneficial but not mandatory. The ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively is essential for collaboration with various stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time role with a duration of 5 years, with the possibility of renewal or conversion under certain conditions. Candidates must reside at a compatible distance from their place of employment to perform their duties effectively. The working arrangement is hybrid, allowing for a combination of onsite presence and teleworking, subject to internal rules and managerial approval. The selected candidate will undergo a probationary period of nine months before being established in the post. The appointment may be renewed multiple times, but the total duration, including all renewals, cannot exceed nine years.
