Job Overview: The Senior Strategy Officer, Strategy, Planning, and Management, serves as a strategic partner to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of Strategy Planning and Management and the Communications Leadership Team. This role is crucial in building trust in the Gates Foundation and inspiring public engagement with its goals of reducing preventable maternal and child deaths, eradicating infectious diseases, and alleviating poverty. The officer will lead high-impact projects, collaborate with directors and deputy directors, and provide strategic thought partnership, project management, and analytical support. Responsibilities include shaping and executing strategic efforts, developing materials, and managing projects across a global division with communications offices in multiple regions, including Europe, Africa, India, and China.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Strategy Officer will be responsible for several key functions:
Strategy Development and Implementation: Partner with the Deputy Director and Communications Leadership Team to scope and execute strategy development for various projects. Lead the translation of strategy into actionable plans, ensuring clarity in accountability. Continuously improve strategies based on early execution learnings and external changes. Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to inform strategic decision-making. Develop presentation materials and frameworks for communication leaders.
Program Management and Planning: Provide operational support to the Communications leadership team, assisting in translating strategy into prioritized portfolios and investment plans. Consult with program leadership to maximize impact and ensure effective collaboration. Promote efficiency by developing and adopting improved tools and processes.
Culture and Collaboration: Act as an ambassador for the Communications Division, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and inclusion. Strengthen team dynamics and support an environment of trust and continuous learning.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least 7 years of experience in formal strategy development roles. A Master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred, particularly in management consulting, strategy development, or marketing strategy. Mastery-level knowledge of strategy development is essential, along with the ability to unite groups around common goals. Significant experience in leading projects at a premier strategy consulting firm or in marketing campaign strategy development is preferred but not mandatory. Exceptional design and material development skills, particularly in PowerPoint and other tools, are required. Experience in program design, results frameworks, and performance management is a plus. Strong presentation skills and the ability to adapt communication styles for diverse audiences are necessary.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or equivalent experience is preferred for this position, ideally in fields related to management consulting, strategy development, or marketing strategy. This educational background supports the analytical and strategic thinking required for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in formal strategy development roles.
