Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator position is crucial as it serves as the delegated director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director for a specific region in South Sudan where Solidarités International operates. The individual in this role is responsible for proposing a regional strategy that aligns with the geopolitical and humanitarian context of the area. Once the strategy is validated, the Field Coordinator ensures its implementation, overseeing that all projects adhere to the Solidarités International charter and comply with internal and contractual procedures. The role requires mobilizing necessary material and financial resources for program execution and supervising resource management. Additionally, the Field Coordinator coordinates the teams in the assigned zone and is responsible for their security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. This position demands strong coordination skills to engage effectively at the consortium level, especially in remote areas where political restrictions may impact assistance. The initial priorities for the first two to three months include scaling up the team, coaching managers, and revising operational modalities in collaboration with the consortium.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Field Coordinator's duties encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Developing and proposing a regional strategy based on the humanitarian context.
  • Ensuring the implementation of projects in accordance with the organization's charter and procedures.
  • Mobilizing and managing material and financial resources for program operations.
  • Coordinating and supervising the teams in the field, ensuring their security and well-being.
  • Acting as the direct contact and representative of the Country Director.
  • Engaging in strong coordination with other organizations and stakeholders at the consortium level.
  • Addressing challenges related to remote interventions and political restrictions.
  • Supporting the scaling up of the team and coaching managers to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Revising operational modalities in conjunction with the consortium to improve response strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in humanitarian or development studies, social sciences, management, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector is required, with 0-2 years in a similar position. The role demands strong technical skills in team management and mentoring, the ability to handle diverse issues, and a capacity for self-learning in a rapidly evolving environment. Candidates should demonstrate good representational skills and the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, including INGOs, NNGOs, authorities, and donors. A solid understanding of security management and humanitarian issues, particularly concerning IDPs and camp management, is essential. Proficiency in writing and editing quality reports in English is also necessary, along with previous experience in consortium settings and rapid response mechanisms being preferred.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as humanitarian or development studies, social sciences, or management. This advanced degree is essential to equip the candidate with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to navigate the complexities of humanitarian work in challenging environments.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a specific focus on roles that involve team management and operational coordination. While 0-2 years of experience in a similar position is acceptable, candidates with prior experience in South Sudan or with Solidarités International will be considered favorably. The ability to manage high workloads and multiple tasks under tight deadlines is crucial, as is experience in crisis situations and the capacity to adapt to changing circumstances.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will facilitate better engagement and coordination in the field.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role with compensation starting from EUR 3,080 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2,800 and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 700 is provided. Solidarités International covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment. The organization implements a system of alternating work and time off, allowing for 7 working days every three months, along with a USD 850 break allowance. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses, including medical, surgical, dental, and repatriation costs. Living conditions in Juba include shared accommodations with basic amenities, while field conditions may vary significantly, often requiring adaptability to basic living standards.
