Job Overview:
The ECHO Audit Finance Support Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the finance expenditure sampling of ECHO projects as part of an Ex-Ante Assessment. This assessment is essential for the recertification of Prosper Global Netherlands as a direct recipient of ECHO funding for the period 2028-203
  • The consultant will be responsible for reviewing samples, issuing communications for documentation requests, and ensuring that all documentation meets audit requirements. The role requires a thorough understanding of financial management within the context of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with preparing expenditure listings in a clear format for auditor sampling, reviewing samples provided by an external audit firm, and separating the samples by entity, country, and organization. They will issue clear communications requesting sample documentation with specific timelines, review all provided documentation to ensure it meets audit requirements, and request further clarity and supporting documentation where necessary. Additionally, the consultant will prepare cover notes for each expenditure item sampled to facilitate easy cross-checking by external auditors and upload these documents to the auditor portal. Following the audit fieldwork, the consultant will follow up on any clarifications required by the auditors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, with a Master’s Degree, CPA, or equivalent being a plus. They should have at least 7+ years of progressive financial management experience at the international level within an INGO, particularly at the field or overseas level. Knowledge of Prosper Global's finance operations, policies, and procedures is essential, including familiarity with Navigator, cost allocation policy, and field finance manual. A strong understanding of ECHO regulations is preferred, along with proficiency in MS Office software.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required for this position. A Master’s Degree or CPA certification is considered an advantage, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of financial principles and practices relevant to the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of international level progressive financial management experience, specifically within an INGO context. This experience should include working at the field or overseas level, demonstrating the ability to manage complex financial operations in diverse environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this role. Additionally, proficiency in a second language such as French or Arabic is considered beneficial, enhancing communication capabilities with a broader range of stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy agreement is for approximately 3 months on a part-time basis, with a maximum of 50 days of work. The position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.
