Job Overview:
The Communications Consultant position is designed for a strategic, creative, and versatile individual who will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and positioning of the IDB as a trusted partner in sustainable development. This role involves supporting the strategic external communication of institutional priorities, regional programs, partnerships, and knowledge products across the Country Offices of Jamaica and The Bahamas. The consultant will work closely with the Vice Presidency for Countries and Regional Integration (VPC) and the Country Department Caribbean Group, ensuring effective communication strategies that engage diverse stakeholders and promote the IDB's mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Consultant will be responsible for providing strategic communications advice to Country Office leadership, ensuring alignment with IDB Group priorities and policies. Key duties include developing and implementing annual communications and visibility plans, designing communication strategies to highlight the development impact of IDB operations, and supporting crisis management efforts. The consultant will lead communications planning for high-profile events, manage media relations, and oversee the production of communications content across various channels. Additionally, the consultant will monitor communications performance, prepare analytical reports, and make recommendations to enhance outreach and engagement efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered. The position requires at least 5 years of professional experience in strategic communications, development communications, public relations, or social media. Proficiency in online photography and videography, along with a strong understanding of the local cultural environment and diplomatic protocol, is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or International Relations is required for this position. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and additional relevant experience may also be considered, demonstrating flexibility in educational requirements based on professional experience.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in strategic communications, development communications, public relations, or social media. Experience within a media outlet, strategic communications agency, or the communication office of international organizations is preferred. Familiarity with the Caribbean region, particularly Jamaica, is highly desirable, along with a proven track record in digital content creation and media relations.

Languages:
Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. This ensures effective communication with stakeholders and the ability to produce high-quality content across various platforms.

Additional Notes:
This position is a national consultant role, offered on a full-time basis for an initial duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to 48 months, subject to eligibility.
