Job Overview:
The Lead Investment Officer position is a senior role within the Mobilization & Asset Sharing Division, aimed at attracting dynamic and experienced professionals. The ideal candidate will possess extensive banking experience, particularly in structuring debt products such as syndicated loans, B Loans, B Bonds, project finance, and other credit instruments. This role requires a demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain robust relationships with clients, investors, and internal stakeholders, which is crucial for enhancing the mobilization of assets. The Lead Investment Officer will be responsible for integrating mobilization and distribution considerations into the origination, structuring, and placement of IDB Invest’s transactions, reporting to either the Director of Distribution & Investor Relations or the Director of Syndications Origination, depending on strategic priorities and market dynamics. This position serves as a regional anchor for the Mobilization & Asset Sharing Division across Latin America and the Caribbean, collaborating closely with Delivery Units, clients, and the investor community to scale up mobilization volumes and deepen investor engagement, ultimately positioning IDB Invest as a leader in the origination and distribution of marketable development finance assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lead Investment Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including supporting Directors in developing and implementing the mobilization and asset sharing strategy in alignment with IDB Invest’s business model and mobilization targets. The officer will act as the primary reference for investment teams on structuring transactions for distribution, ensuring assets are originated with market parameters conducive to mobilizing third-party capital. Responsibilities also include advising on optimal terms for syndicated debt transactions, maintaining strong relationships with clients and investors, leading primary and secondary distribution efforts, providing market intelligence and structuring advice, conducting investor outreach, preparing syndication strategies and marketing materials, and promoting knowledge sharing within the division. The officer will also champion the continuous development of mobilization products tailored to local market conditions and contribute to the coverage of specific investor accounts and industry verticals.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in finance, business administration, economics, international development, or related fields. A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in loan syndications, debt structuring, debt distribution, capital markets, or structured finance is required, with 10 years being highly desirable. Experience at the Vice President or Director level in syndications origination, distribution, or capital markets teams is preferred. Candidates should have deep expertise in structuring debt products, a proven track record of originating and executing transactions, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. Familiarity with LSTA documentation and knowledge of local debt capital markets in Brazil, the Andean region, or Mexico and Central America is essential.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent advanced degree in finance, business administration, economics, international development, or other relevant fields is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of financial instruments and market dynamics relevant to the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 6 years of relevant professional experience in areas such as loan syndications, debt structuring, and capital markets, with a preference for candidates who have 10 years of experience. Experience at a senior level, such as Vice President or Director, in syndications origination or distribution is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record in executing and placing transactions in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment, ideally within an international financial organization or similar institution.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, along with one of the other official languages of the Bank. Candidates based in the Andean or Central America Regions should have proficiency in Spanish, while those based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, should be proficient in Portuguese. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication within the diverse operational landscape of the IDB Group.

Additional Notes:
The contract type is for National or Third Country National positions, initially set for 36 months and renewable upon mutual agreement.
