Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Programme Division at WFP is designed to provide support in managing the Programme Guidance Manual (PGM) Platform. The intern will be involved in various tasks, including the transfer and upload of programmatic guidance manuals, ensuring proper formatting and access rights on the web platform. The role requires collaboration with colleagues in the Programme Division to ensure that programmatic guidance content is accurately formatted and labeled. Additionally, the intern will assist in communications activities related to the PGM and other platforms, conduct research to support the development of program cycle guidance, and help plan and deliver webinars. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into the workings of a major humanitarian organization and contribute to impactful projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the management of the WFP’s Programme Guidance Manual (PGM) Platform by transferring and uploading programmatic guidance manuals, ensuring correct formatting and access rights.
  • Liaising with relevant colleagues in the Programme Division to ensure programmatic guidance content is accurately formatted and labeled using corporate taxonomy.
  • Assisting with communications activities related to the PGM and other platforms hosted by the Programme Division Front Office.
  • Conducting research and gathering relevant information to support the development and revision of program cycle ‘job aid’ guidance in the PGM, including reviewing inputs, drafting sections, and incorporating feedback from technical colleagues.
  • Assisting in planning and delivering the PRG webinar series, including outreach support, logistical coordination, preparation of summary reports, and development of key messages.
  • Coordinating meeting times and creating Notes for the Record for meetings with knowledge management stakeholders.
  • Contributing to internal communications activities, such as developing and curating intranet content, articles, posters, and other visual assets.
  • Supporting the PRG Front Office in other relevant information and knowledge management or communications tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) from a recognized university and have completed at least two years of the program; or be currently enrolled in a graduate program (e.g., Master’s degree); or be a recent graduate from an undergraduate or graduate program (within six months prior to the application to the internship program). Additionally, candidates must have attended classes in the last 12 months of enrollment in a recognized university. Excellent written and spoken English is required, with proficiency at level C. A working knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Portuguese) is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being currently enrolled in a recognized undergraduate or graduate program. Candidates should have completed at least two years of their undergraduate studies or be enrolled in a graduate program. Recent graduates who have completed their studies within the last six months are also eligible to apply. The internship is designed for individuals who are actively pursuing their education and can demonstrate relevant academic achievements.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position is relatively low, as it is an internship role. Candidates are expected to have some familiarity with programmatic guidance and knowledge management practices, but extensive professional experience is not required. The internship is aimed at students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in a humanitarian organization and develop their skills in knowledge management and communications.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with a requirement for excellent written and spoken communication skills. Additionally, having a working knowledge of another official UN language (such as French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Portuguese) is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.

This internship is a full-time position based in Rome, Italy, with a duration of six months. The expected starting date for the internship is 01 November 202
  • Interns will receive a monthly stipend from WFP, up to a maximum of US$1,000 per month, depending on the duty station of assignment. However, WFP is not responsible for living expenses, accommodation arrangements, or visa requests. Travel tickets will be reimbursed for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country. It is important to note that family members of current WFP employees are not eligible to apply for this internship.
