Job Overview:
The Staff Assistant (Wargaming / Modelling and Simulation Facilitator) position is a fixed-term role based in the Plans Directorate of HQ MARCOM. The primary purpose of this role is to enable and enhance the functioning of MARCOM’s Wargaming, Modelling and Simulation (W, M&S) capability and Operations Planning functions to improve mission readiness. The role involves working closely with various stakeholders across the organization to activate W, M&S capabilities and support operational planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that MARCOM’s Wargaming, Modelling and Simulation capability is efficiently supported, connected across the pan-NATO working group, and able to contribute to and benefit from emerging innovations. Additionally, the role includes providing timely and reliable support and guidance to users of Wargaming, Modelling and Simulation tools, ensuring they are set up for success in their operational planning tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Staff Assistant will be responsible for a variety of duties including:
  • Providing administrative support to MARCOM’s Wargaming, Modelling and Simulation capability and Operational Planning Branch, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Coordinating with various stakeholders to enhance the W, M&S capability and facilitate operational planning processes.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of Wargaming and Modelling and Simulation exercises, ensuring they meet the operational needs of the organization.
  • Offering administration" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">system administration and support for Wargaming, Modelling and Simulation tools, ensuring users receive timely assistance and guidance.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of W, M&S activities and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Engaging with pan-NATO working groups to share best practices and innovations in Wargaming and Modelling and Simulation.
  • Contributing to the preparation of reports and documentation related to Wargaming and Modelling and Simulation activities.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications:
  • At least three years of professional experience in an administrative role within an office setting.
  • Proven experience in employing Wargaming and Modelling and Simulation computer tools.
  • Higher Secondary education with completed higher vocational training leading to a formal technical or professional certification, accompanied by three years of function-related experience; or Secondary education with advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or accreditation, with five years of post-related experience.
  • Desirable qualifications include experience in NATO or national/international organizations related to Wargaming and/or Modelling and Simulation, as well as experience working in a NATO or national military headquarters.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a minimum of Higher Secondary education, complemented by completed higher vocational training that leads to a formal technical or professional certification. Alternatively, candidates with Secondary education must have completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or accreditation, along with the requisite years of experience as specified in the qualifications section.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of professional experience in an administrative role within an office environment. Experience specifically related to Wargaming and Modelling and Simulation tools is essential, with a preference for candidates who have worked in NATO or similar organizations.

Languages:
The position requires proficiency in English, as all applications must be submitted in English. While not mandatory, knowledge of additional languages relevant to NATO operations may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is a fixed-term role for a duration of three years. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain NATO Secret security clearance.
