Job Overview:
The Associate Project Officer will play a crucial role in supporting UNESCO's collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS) in Cambodia, particularly in advancing the Education 2030 agenda and contributing to the Education Strategic Plan 2024-202

• This position is integral to the implementation of the Strengthening Teacher Education Programmes in Cambodia (STEPCam), which is a significant initiative funded by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). The officer will be responsible for providing technical assistance, coordination, and management for the implementation and monitoring of STEPCam, ensuring that project activities are executed effectively and align with the strategic goals of the program. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including government entities, development partners, and educational institutions, to facilitate the successful delivery of educational projects and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Project Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:

• Providing technical assistance for the overall management of STEPCam and other GPE projects, ensuring timely implementation of project activities and preparing necessary documentation such as workplans, progress reports, and budgets.
• Assisting in the management of STEPCam, including developing terms of reference, supervising project contracts, and ensuring quality assurance for deliverables.
• Overseeing the monitoring and evaluation plan for STEPCam, coordinating with project teams to ensure alignment with performance indicators.
• Supporting the Chief of Education Unit in preparing internal and external reports for GPE and other stakeholders.
• Assisting in resource mobilization for new programs in teacher education and related fields, developing proposals and presentations.
• Facilitating UNESCO's role in UN planning mechanisms and education sector coordination in Cambodia.
• Developing visibility and outreach strategies to maximize project impact, including creating communication materials.
• Carrying out additional tasks as assigned by the UNESCO Representative and other senior officials.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in education, public policy, development studies, or a related social science field. Additionally, a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in education and international development is required, with at least one year at the international level. Experience in project design, management, monitoring, and evaluation is essential, along with a proven ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities and development partners.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in fields such as education, public policy, development studies, or other related social sciences. This advanced degree is crucial for understanding the complexities of educational systems and policies, particularly in the context of international development and collaboration.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience in education and international development, with a preference for candidates who have at least one year of experience acquired at the international level. Candidates should have experience in designing, managing, monitoring, and evaluating education projects, as well as providing technical oversight and quality assurance for project deliverables.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of a third official UNESCO language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage in diverse international contexts and communicate effectively with a broader range of stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is temporary, lasting from 7 to 11 months, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and satisfactory performance. The position is open to external candidates and is classified at the P-2 grade level. The approximate annual starting salary for this post is USD 70,786, and benefits may include 30 days of annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, and a pension plan.
