Job Overview: The Grants Manager will play a crucial role within the coordination-team" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">coordination team, reporting directly to the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director. This position involves close collaboration with both program and support departments at the coordination level, as well as with base teams. The primary responsibility of the Grants Manager is to ensure accountability to donors. This includes contributing to the strategic development of the mission, monitoring and identifying funding opportunities that align with SI's country and global strategies, and overseeing the preparation of high-quality proposals, reports, and contract modification requests for submission to donors and consortium partners. The Grants Manager will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with donor procedures and building the capacity of staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures. Additionally, the role involves proactive management of donor contractual obligations and preparation for external audits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute to the mission’s strategic development by identifying and pursuing funding opportunities.
Oversee the compilation of timely and high-quality proposals, reports, and contract modification requests for submission to donors and consortium partners.
Monitor compliance with donor procedures and build capacity among staff regarding internal accountability tools and donor procedures.
Proactively manage donor contractual obligations, ensuring that all relevant staff and departments are aware of and understand these obligations.
Centralize and prepare relevant documentation for external audits and ensure proper archiving of audit reports.
Conduct kick-off meetings and contractualization of potential projects within the first few months of employment.
Develop proposals for ECHO HIP and other development donors.
Prepare final reports and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Science, Business Administration, Economics, Project Management, Public Administration, Development Studies, or a related field. A minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in Grants Management, Donor Reporting, Compliance Management, and Proposal Development with International Organizations is required. Additionally, candidates should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and 3-4 years in a similar position.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Social Science, Business Administration, Economics, Project Management, Public Administration, or Development Studies. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of grants management and donor relations.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience specifically in Grants Management, Donor Reporting, Compliance Management, and Proposal Development with International Organizations. Furthermore, candidates should have 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and a similar duration in a comparable role, demonstrating a solid understanding of the challenges and requirements of grants management in a humanitarian context.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto or French is considered an asset, enhancing communication capabilities within the diverse operational environment of Afghanistan.

The salary is competitive, beginning at EUR 2365 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly Per Diem of USD 600 is provided. SI covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.
