The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the leading agency of the United Nations dedicated to ensuring that every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. Established in 1969, UNFPA operates in over 150 countries and territories, working towards the goals of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The organization focuses on four interconnected outcomes: ending unmet needs for family planning, preventing maternal deaths, eliminating gender-based violence, and adapting to demographic changes through evidence-based policies. UNFPA is committed to promoting human rights and gender equality, and it seeks to recruit principled and ethical staff who embody these values and standards.

Job Overview:
The primary objective of this internship is to contribute to knowledge production, capacity building, political positioning, and advocacy regarding the impact of climate change on gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Comoros. The intern will support the Evidence, Knowledge, and Innovation (PSI) team in organizing events, advocacy efforts, and research that intersect climate change, gender, and SRHR. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Country Office Chief in Comoros, engaging in various tasks that enhance the organization's mission and objectives in a rapidly changing global environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for supporting UNFPA's positioning and advocacy efforts related to climate change, which includes designing and organizing key events (virtual, in-person, and hybrid), managing climate projects, knowledge management, disseminating key messages, and developing proposals for climate financing mobilization. Additionally, the intern will assist the Communication Unit in developing and disseminating communication materials (social media publications, press releases, newsletters) to raise awareness about UNFPA Comoros' work on climate change. The intern will also support research on climate change and its impact on gender equality and SRHR in Comoros, develop knowledge products (national fact sheets), contribute to advocacy tools (NDC dashboard), and coordinate workshops/trainings for governmental and non-governmental stakeholders.
