Job Overview:
The National Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting Hanoi Law University by reviewing and updating course materials related to 'Gender and Gender Equality in Policy and Law'. This position involves not only the revision of existing materials but also the delivery of training for trainers and the facilitation of extracurricular activities for students. The consultant will pilot the course, which aims to enhance the understanding and application of gender issues within the context of policy and law. The overarching goal is to strengthen the capacity of both lecturers and students in gender mainstreaming, thereby promoting gender-responsive access to justice in Vietnam. The assignment is set to take place from September 2026 to March 2027, spanning a total of 15 days of engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for several key duties, including:
  • Conducting a comprehensive review of the existing course materials on 'Gender and Gender Equality in Policy and Law' to identify areas for improvement and updates.
  • Collaborating with faculty members at Hanoi Law University to ensure that the revised materials meet educational standards and effectively address gender issues.
  • Developing new content and resources that reflect current trends and best practices in gender equality and law.
  • Delivering training sessions for trainers to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach the updated course effectively.
  • Facilitating extracurricular activities that engage students in discussions and practical applications of gender equality concepts.
  • Piloting the course with a select group of students and gathering feedback to refine the materials further.
  • Contributing to the overall goal of enhancing gender mainstreaming in policy and law education in Vietnam.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in gender studies, law, or a related field. They should have proven experience in curriculum development, particularly in higher education settings. Familiarity with gender issues in the context of Vietnamese law and policy is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including university faculty and students.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Gender Studies, Law, Social Sciences, or a related discipline is required. A PhD in a relevant field would be an advantage, particularly for candidates looking to contribute to academic discourse and research in gender equality and law.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional experience in gender equality, legal education, or related fields. Experience working with educational institutions, particularly in curriculum development and training, is highly desirable. Previous involvement in projects related to gender mainstreaming or access to justice will be considered a significant asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all materials and communications will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Vietnamese is highly desirable, given the local context and the need to engage with students and faculty effectively. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an advantage but is not required.
