Job Overview:
The Senior Project Associate position is part of a call for applications aimed at establishing a roster of qualified candidates who may be mobilized to support the Mission’s surge staffing requirements during disasters, emergencies, and other humanitarian response operations. This role does not currently have a confirmed start date or immediate deployment opportunity associated with it. Candidates who apply acknowledge their interest in being considered for future emergency response assignments and are expected to maintain their availability should their services be required. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Project Associate include assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of emergency response activities. This involves ensuring timely and effective delivery of humanitarian assistance in accordance with project objectives, humanitarian principles, and donor requirements. The associate will compile, analyze, and present information and data on disaster impacts, humanitarian needs, response operations, and operational developments to support evidence-based decision-making and response planning. They will monitor project budget implementation and resource utilization, identifying funding gaps and proposing adjustments to support efficient and accountable emergency response operations. The role requires serving as the focal point for administrative and operational coordination of emergency response activities, liaising with internal units and external stakeholders to facilitate procurement, logistics, deployments, clearances, and other operational requirements. The associate will prepare situation reports, implementation updates, and progress reports, identifying operational challenges and delivery gaps, escalating critical issues to the supervisor, and recommending corrective actions to improve response effectiveness. Additionally, they will draft correspondence, briefing notes, donor reports, presentations, maps, dashboards, statistical tables, and other operational documentation to support coordination, reporting, and decision-making during emergency response operations. Organizing and supporting coordination meetings, simulations, trainings, and capacity-building activities for government counterparts, humanitarian partners, and response personnel on emergency preparedness, response, and recovery is also part of the role. The associate will respond to complex operational information requests, maintain project records, and ensure accurate documentation of emergency response activities, beneficiary data, and operational outputs. Participation in inter-agency coordination mechanisms and technical working groups is expected, maintaining effective collaboration with government agencies, local authorities, UN agencies, humanitarian clusters, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders to strengthen coordinated emergency response efforts. Monitoring the implementation of activities by implementing partners, ensuring compliance with project agreements, humanitarian standards, IOM policies, and donor requirements, and promptly reporting any issues to the supervisor is also a key responsibility. The associate will contribute to the development and revision of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contingency plans, emergency response guidelines, after-action reviews, lessons learned, and concept notes to strengthen preparedness and future emergency response programming. They may also provide guidance/training and assist in coordinating and monitoring the work of other staff in the unit, and may supervise other staff as assigned. Finally, the associate will perform other relevant duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is also essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting is considered an advantage.
