Job Overview:
The Cloud Infrastructure Services Team Lead position is a pivotal role within the World Food Programme, focusing on the management and strategic direction of the Cloud Infrastructure Services team. This position is integral to WFP's digital transformation efforts, which aim to leverage cloud infrastructure to enhance global operations and ensure business continuity. The Team Lead will oversee a specialized unit responsible for providing global advisory, operations, and governance for WFP's cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and GCP. The role requires a strong technical vision and leadership skills to guide a team of Cloud Specialists in developing and implementing the division's workplan. The Team Lead will act as the primary representative for WFP’s cloud infrastructure, engaging with various governance bodies and presenting complex IT solutions for corporate endorsement. This position demands expertise in cloud strategy, architecture, and automated systems engineering, as well as a focus on optimizing cloud spending and implementing robust security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security practices. The Team Lead will also be responsible for translating technical needs into financial business cases and forecasting future infrastructure requirements, ensuring that WFP's cloud capabilities align with its mission to provide effective humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Cloud Infrastructure Services Team Lead include leading and mentoring a team of Cloud Specialists, managing workload distribution, conducting performance evaluations, and providing professional development opportunities. The Team Lead will serve as the primary representative to the Architectural Board, presenting and defending complex IT solutions for corporate endorsement. Additionally, the role involves acting as the organizational focal point for cloud-native modernization initiatives across WFP and UN agencies. The Team Lead will lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and highly available cloud-native infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP, overseeing the total cost of ownership for Cloud/Hybrid environments and implementing high-level quality assurance metrics. Responsibilities also include elaborating principles, guidance, and best practices for Cloud infrastructure, designing and documenting infrastructure to ensure governance, security, performance, scalability, and resiliency. The Team Lead will partner with the cybersecurity team to implement security practices, translate technical infrastructure needs into financial business cases, drive FinOps initiatives to monitor cloud spending, forecast future infrastructure needs, and serve as an escalation point during high-severity incidents.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Cloud Infrastructure Services Team Lead position must possess an advanced university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with two additional years of relevant work experience is acceptable. The role requires a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in supporting production applications and/or administering Enterprise IT Services in Cloud and Hybrid environments with distributed 24x7 operations. Candidates must demonstrate deep technical knowledge in AWS, GCP, and Azure infrastructure design, as well as cloud-native architectures and migration from on-premises to Cloud. The ability to analyze and monitor infrastructure to proactively detect potential performance issues is essential, along with good knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker orchestration. Technical expertise in Cybersecurity and CI/CD pipeline management is also required. Candidates should have the ability to translate complex technical jargon into business value for stakeholders and possess good interpersonal skills. Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with minimal guidance are crucial, as is extensive experience in a collaborative environment with a strong customer service orientation.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with a first university degree and two additional years of relevant work experience will also be considered. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of cloud infrastructure and the technical requirements of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in supporting production applications and/or administering Enterprise IT Services in Cloud and Hybrid environments. Candidates should have experience with distributed 24x7 operations, demonstrating their ability to manage and optimize cloud infrastructure effectively. This level of experience is crucial for ensuring that the candidate can lead the Cloud Infrastructure Services team and contribute to WFP's digital transformation efforts.

Languages:
Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory for this position. Additionally, candidates should have intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language, which may include Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese, as these are considered working languages within WFP. Proficiency in multiple languages is advantageous and can enhance communication within the diverse environment of the organization.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an International Professional role and is open to candidates of all nationalities. Mobility is a core contractual requirement within WFP, although this position is classified as 'non-rotational,' meaning the incumbent will not be subject to the regular reassignment process unless the position is reclassified. The selected candidate will be employed on a fixed-term contract with a probationary period of one year. WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in line with ICSC standards, which includes a basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, visa, travel and shipment allowances, 30 days of annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan, and medical insurance. The selected candidate will be required to relocate to Rome, Italy, to take up this assignment.
