Job Overview:
The HMA Programme Manager position is a critical management role within DRC Sudan, specifically aimed at overseeing the internal coordination and project management of the Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) projects portfolio. This role encompasses both grants and commercial contracts, with the primary objective of ensuring effective financial and implementation management of these projects. The HMA Programme Manager will be responsible for liaising with various departments including programme, supply chain, grants, partnerships, and finance to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget. Additionally, the role involves supporting the Head of Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (HDP) in fundraising efforts, which includes preparing budgets, work plans, timelines, and other essential programmatic documents. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with internal processes and will be expected to contribute to the overall strategic direction of DRC’s HMA initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree in development, accounting, business management, or a relevant field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in international development or humanitarian assistance is required, demonstrating progressively more responsibility in project, programme, or grants management. Candidates should have proven financial management experience, including strong skills in budget and financial management, and at least 5 years of project management experience in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector. Experience in the humanitarian demining sector is a plus, along with a successful track record of working in culturally and politically diverse environments. Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and propose creative solutions to challenges.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in a relevant field such as development, accounting, or business management. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of project management, financial oversight, and compliance with grant and contract requirements.
Experience:
The position requires at least 3 years of experience in international development or humanitarian assistance, with a focus on project management and financial oversight. Candidates should have at least 5 years of project management experience in the nonprofit or humanitarian assistance sector, with a preference for those who have experience in the humanitarian demining sector. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the candidate can effectively manage the complexities of HMA projects and navigate the challenges that may arise in a dynamic environment.
Languages:
Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. This is essential for effective communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in a multicultural context where diverse languages may be spoken.
Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is for one year, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance. The salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for International staff, and this position is graded at M.F. The expected start date for this role is November 2026, and the duty station will be in Khartoum. The HMA Programme Manager will report directly to the Head of Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding.
