Job Overview:
The District Project Coordinator is a field-based position responsible for overseeing the implementation of UNFPA-supported integrated sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender-based violence (GBV) interventions in assigned districts and municipalities. This role involves maintaining regular communication with provincial, district, and local authorities, coordinating with implementing partners, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of program delivery. The coordinator will work to connect municipal implementation efforts with provincial and national systems, ensuring that SRHR and GBV services are planned, financed, and delivered in a rights-based manner. The position requires a focus on marginalized populations, including women, girls, adolescents, young people, persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and Dalits, to ensure that their needs are met and that they are included in the planning and delivery of services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support policy advocacy, planning, and budgeting processes at the subnational level by assisting municipalities in integrating SRHR and GBV priorities into their plans and budgets. This includes facilitating dialogue with local government officials to mobilize resources and prioritize financial allocations for essential services.
  • Provide program implementation support by coordinating activities across districts and municipalities, ensuring alignment with approved workplans and technical standards. This involves maintaining communication with local governments, health facilities, and community organizations to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Monitor and document program progress through regular field visits, assessing service quality and identifying areas for improvement. This includes supporting learning and sharing best practices among stakeholders.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive working environment by adhering to safeguarding policies and supporting partners in implementing feedback mechanisms for communities.
  • Engage in risk management and humanitarian support by coordinating with disaster management authorities to ensure continuity of SRHR and GBV services during emergencies.
  • Foster a culture of respect and safety within the organization and among partners, ensuring that all staff and community members feel secure and valued.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Gender Studies, Sociology, or a related field, along with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a secondary-level education in the aforementioned fields and 7 years of relevant experience will also be considered. Applicants should demonstrate experience in program implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting at various governmental levels. Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and gender-based violence prevention is essential. Familiarity with UNFPA’s mandate and relevant laws and policies in Nepal is advantageous. Proficiency in standard office applications and a willingness to travel frequently within the assigned province are also required.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Midwifery, Gender Studies, Sociology, or a related field is required. Candidates with a secondary-level education in these fields must have additional relevant experience to qualify for the position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, or 7 years for those with a secondary-level education. Experience should include program implementation, coordination, monitoring, and reporting at the provincial, district, and municipal levels, particularly in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender-based violence.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Nepali, both oral and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the district where the position is based will be considered an advantage.
