Job Overview:
The Education Officer will work under the supervision of the Education Specialist, providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education and early childhood development (ECD) programs in the Solomon Islands. This role involves a range of tasks from development planning to the delivery of results, including preparing, executing, reporting, managing, and implementing various technical and operational program tasks. The Education Officer's support is crucial for program preparation, planning, implementation, and monitoring, contributing to sustainable results aimed at improving learning outcomes and ensuring universal access to quality, equitable, and inclusive education in the Pacific region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support to programme development and planning: Assist in the design and planning of education programs, including situation analysis and results-based planning.
• Programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results: Track implementation, identify issues, prepare reports, and support the delivery of results.
• Education data, research, and evidence generation: Collect, analyze, and present education-related information for decision-making.
• Technical and operational support to programme implementation: Provide necessary support for effective program execution.
• Networking and partnership building: Collaborate with stakeholders, including Local Education Groups, to share program progress and ensure coordination.
• Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building: Foster innovation and manage knowledge to enhance program effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a university degree in education, social sciences, public policy, international development, statistics/data management, psychology, sociology, or a related field. Candidates should possess skills in program planning and development, program management and monitoring, research and data analysis, curriculum development, and partnership building. A willingness to travel to remote locations within the Solomon Islands is also required.

Educational Background:
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: education, social sciences, public policy, international development, statistics/data management, psychology, sociology, or other relevant areas.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of professional work experience at the national and/or international levels in program planning, implementation, community engagement, management, monitoring, and/or research in education or related fields is required. Experience working with government counterparts, including ministries of education and national education coordination mechanisms, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset.
