Job Overview:
The Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Extension Worker serves as the frontline technical expert responsible for the effective delivery of ACF's food security and livelihoods programs. This role involves providing essential support to ensure the successful implementation of various interventions aimed at enhancing food security and improving livelihoods. The FSL Extension Worker will engage in agricultural development, business development, vocational skills training, and the establishment of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA). The incumbent will play a pivotal role in community mobilization, training project participants, monitoring field activities, and documenting progress. This position requires a proactive approach to identify community needs and facilitate the adoption of innovative livelihood strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the FSL Extension Worker include:

• Programme Implementation (75%): - Implement food security and livelihood activities as outlined in the project scope. - Mobilize communities, target beneficiaries, and monitor the distribution of food security and livelihood inputs. - Collaborate with the Food Security and Livelihood Officer to organize work plans and link extension services with existing institutions. - Engage with farmer groups to leverage indigenous knowledge and develop cropping calendars and business plans. - Facilitate the adoption of innovative livelihood practices such as the Optimized Land Use Model (OLUM), Block farming, and sustainable income generation alternatives. - Assist in conducting FSL-related training sessions for project participants.
• Effective Monitoring and Evaluation (25%): - Participate in surveys and assessments to identify agricultural and business gaps in the district. - Conduct regular field visits to project sites and report progress to the FSL Officer. - Prepare comprehensive monthly and weekly project reports. - Engage in program evaluations and ensure that all partners deliver quality services as per contractual agreements, providing feedback to the FSL Officer.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Diploma in Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Livestock, Business Development, Forestry, or a related field. Additionally, applicants should have at least two years of relevant experience in agricultural development, business development, vocational skills training, and cash-based interventions. Experience with agriculture value chains and income-generating activities is highly desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to produce quality reports are essential. Previous experience working with local and international NGOs is an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate sound judgment, decision-making capabilities, and cultural sensitivity.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Diploma in Agricultural Extension, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Livestock, Business Development, Forestry, or a related discipline. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of agricultural practices and livelihood strategies necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in fields related to agricultural development, business development, vocational skills training, and cash-based interventions. Candidates should have a proven track record of working effectively in similar roles, particularly in contexts involving agricultural value chains and income-generating activities.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of the local language, N’gakaramojong, is a must, as it facilitates effective communication with community members and project participants. Proficiency in other local languages may be considered an asset.

This position is based in Uganda and may involve fieldwork in various locations within the country. The role is full-time, and candidates should be prepared to work in challenging environments. A valid riding permit and the ability to ride a motorbike or bicycle are essential for this position, as mobility is crucial for field activities.
