Job Overview:
The Deputy Program Director will play a crucial role in the Program Office of Human Rights Watch, which oversees a large team of research staff dedicated to human rights issues. This position requires a strategic leader who can effectively manage and support divisional directors and staff working in challenging environments. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Program Director will have a wide range of responsibilities, including managing divisional directors to support staff effectively, promoting an inclusive work environment, and overseeing financial management within the research divisions. The role also involves developing strategies and operational plans for designated research divisions, ensuring that these plans align with organizational priorities. The Deputy Program Director will facilitate communication and collaboration across divisions, ensuring that research is conducted rigorously and ethically. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and deliver measurable results, as well as experience in fostering collaboration across diverse teams.

Languages:
Fluent English is required for this position, with excellent writing and editing skills. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to effective communication and collaboration in a multilingual environment.

Additional Notes:
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of USD 190,000 – 228,000 for candidates based in the United States, with variations depending on location for those outside the U.S. HRW offers employer-paid benefits and will assist with relocation expenses and work authorization where applicable.
