Job Overview: The Information Technology Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Resource Management Officer and in close coordination with the ICT Central Team. The primary function of this position is to provide first-level technical support and services to users of IOM’s corporate applications and infrastructure. The incumbent will serve as the first point of contact for helpdesk technical support requests, interacting with both local and remote users to provide assistance and troubleshooting for a variety of IT-related issues. This includes support for computers, applications, telephones, printers, scanners, and mobile devices. The role also involves providing technical support for corporate applications and ICT standard software, ensuring that all IT components are secure and timely patched, and assisting with the monitoring of workstations and network equipment. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to users.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information Technology Assistant include, but are not limited to: providing first-level technical support for IOM’s corporate applications and infrastructure; assisting users with troubleshooting and resolving issues related to computers, applications, telephones, printers, and other IT equipment; providing technical support for corporate applications such as Office365, SAP, and Oracle; administering and monitoring systems and workstations; ensuring the security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and timely patching of IT components; assisting with the administration of network devices and services; contributing to system upgrades and IT infrastructure changes; providing training and guidance to end-users on IOM systems and devices; maintaining an IT inventory of active and retired equipment; supporting teleconference meetings and calls; and performing other related functions as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school degree and four years of relevant experience in administering cloud-based services (such as Azure, AWS, and/or Microsoft 365) and LAN/WAN networking environments, including Cisco Meraki. Alternatively, a university degree in computer science, telecommunications, or systems engineering, along with two years of relevant experience, is acceptable. Additional qualifications that are advantageous include AWS or Azure certifications, Microsoft Certification in Windows Server or Active Directory, and other industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Security+. Cybersecurity-related certifications and training are also considered beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for candidates holding a university degree in fields related to computer science, telecommunications, or systems engineering. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates with relevant certifications in cloud services and IT management are also encouraged to apply.
Experience: The position requires four years of relevant experience in administering Windows computers, Office365 tools, and LAN/WAN networking environments. Candidates should have extensive experience in providing direct user technical support and troubleshooting computer, network, and communication equipment. Proven experience in supporting Office 365 and cloud-based solutions in AWS or Azure is essential. Basic knowledge of cybersecurity incident response and compliance tasks is also required.
Languages: Fluency in one of IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish) is mandatory for all staff members. For this position, fluency in both English and Spanish is required, both oral and written. The proficiency of the required languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: This position has an initial duration of 6 months, with the possibility of extension, and is subject to confirmation of funding. The gross salary for this position is CRC 889,153 per month. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Any offer made to the candidate is subject to confirmation of funding.
