Job Overview:
The IOM Project Development and Reporting Associate will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's project development efforts in the Caribbean. This position involves identifying funding opportunities, developing high-quality project proposals, and ensuring alignment with regional priorities and donor interests. The associate will also be responsible for project reporting requirements, particularly for the ECHO-funded disaster preparedness and response project. The role requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including government agencies, UN partners, and regional institutions, to promote safe and orderly migration and strengthen migration governance. The associate will assist in the conceptualization and development of regional initiatives that address migration challenges, contribute to stakeholder engagement, and support knowledge generation and reporting activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. A demonstrated commitment to the principles of humanitarian action and migration governance is essential. The candidate should also have experience in project development and reporting, particularly in the context of international organizations or NGOs. Familiarity with the Caribbean region and its migration challenges will be an asset. The candidate should be adaptable, flexible, and committed to continuous learning, with a strong ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. The educational background should reflect a strong understanding of migration issues, development policies, and project management principles.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant professional experience in project development, reporting, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of migration governance and humanitarian action, is highly desirable. Familiarity with donor reporting requirements and project management processes is essential.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the organization. Knowledge of other languages, particularly Spanish or French, would be considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with diverse stakeholders in the region.

This position is a UN Volunteer role based in Bridgetown, Barbados, which is classified as a family-duty station. The living conditions in Barbados are stable, with good infrastructure and a relatively high cost of living. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Programme and Project Design: Assist in the conceptualization and development of regional initiatives or projects that address migration and mobility challenges in the Caribbean, including labour mobility and disaster displacement. Contribute to the preparation of project concept notes and donor briefing materials. Support technical cooperation with governments and regional institutions to promote safe migration and evidence-based policies. Identify financing opportunities for climate mobility programming.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination: Engage with UN partners, development partners, and donors to strengthen collaboration and resource mobilization efforts. Contribute to IOM's presence at regional workshops and coordination forums to foster strategic partnerships and promote coordinated action.
- Knowledge Generation and Reporting: Prepare research notes, infographics, and communication products highlighting key trends and recommendations related to migration priorities. Draft progress reports and briefing documents for IOM management and donors. Support reporting for the ECHO-funded disaster preparedness programme.
- Platform Management: Administer IOM's UNV platform, providing guidance to colleagues, managing quality assurance, and supporting volunteer onboarding and reporting processes. Collaborate with the supervisor to finalize a work plan outlining key objectives and activities.
