Job Overview:
The Graphic Designer position at UNOPS is a crucial role that supports the communications efforts of various programs within the Myanmar Country Office. The designer will be responsible for creating visually appealing materials that effectively communicate key messages to target audiences. This includes designing reports, posters, presentations, videos, and other communication products for both print and digital platforms. The role requires a creative individual who can deliver innovative design solutions while adhering to established graphic guidelines and brand standards. The Graphic Designer will work closely with project teams to ensure that all materials produced align with the overall communication strategies of the organization. This position is a retainer contract, meaning that the designer will be engaged on an as-needed basis, responding to requests from UNOPS project teams as they arise. The flexibility of this role allows for a dynamic work environment where the designer can contribute to various projects across different sectors, including health, infrastructure, and project management.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a secondary school education with relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, marketing, or a related area. A Master’s degree in these fields is also acceptable, provided the candidate has no prior work experience. Additional certifications or diplomas in graphic design or related disciplines are considered advantageous.
Experience:
The position requires relevant experience in graphic design, visual communication, or multimedia production. Candidates should have a strong command of Adobe Creative Suite software and experience with office software packages, particularly Google Suite Applications. Experience in designing documents and materials for UN agencies or NGOs is preferred, as is experience in a creative marketing or advertising environment. A basic understanding of user interface design and human-computer interaction is also beneficial.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Burmese is required for this position. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills in both languages to effectively convey messages through visual design. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
Additional Notes:
This is a retainer position, meaning it is not a full-time role. The contract duration is for one year, with a maximum of 150 working days per year, and there is a possibility of extensions based on budget availability and individual performance. The position is open only to nationals of Myanmar or individuals residing in Myanmar with a valid work permit. - Design and produce high-quality publications, reports, and communication materials in accordance with UNOPS graphic guidelines.
- Implement creative and innovative design solutions for print and digital media, ensuring accessibility and usability.
- Collaborate with project teams to understand their communication needs and deliver tailored design outputs.
- Develop and edit designs for maps, graphics, videos, and other visual elements to enhance communication effectiveness.
- Layout and design information materials such as banners, posters, booklets, and flyers, ensuring clarity and visual appeal.
- Work with printing agencies to ensure the production of high-quality printed materials.
- Stay updated on current design trends and best practices to continuously improve the quality of outputs.
- Ensure all designs adhere to brand guidelines and maintain consistency across all communication products.
- Provide support for ad hoc requests from project teams, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to changing needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Secondary school education (or equivalent) with at least 6 years of relevant experience in graphic design, or a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, fine arts, marketing, or related fields with 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in the same fields with no prior experience.
- Certification or diploma in graphic design, fine arts, marketing, or media is desirable.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and experience with Google Workspace applications is required.
- Strong portfolio showcasing previous graphic design work is essential.
- Knowledge of design principles, typography, and color theory is necessary.
