Job Overview:
The Senior Partnerships Officer (Private Sector) will play a crucial role in leading the implementation of FAO's strategy for engaging with private sector stakeholders. This position is pivotal in enhancing collaboration between FAO and the private sector to achieve the organization's mandate. The officer will be responsible for generating, maintaining, monitoring, and evaluating private sector engagement, ensuring that these partnerships align with FAO's strategic objectives. The role requires a strong ability to lead and support FAO colleagues globally, providing them with the necessary tools and methodologies to effectively engage with private sector actors. The officer will also be involved in capacity building and will oversee the development of monitoring and evaluation systems for private sector partnerships, ensuring that FAO's collaborations are impactful and sustainable.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Partnerships Officer will lead the implementation of the FAO private sector strategy at various levels, including global, regional, and national. Key responsibilities include leading multidisciplinary teams, participating in organization-wide committees, and representing FAO at inter-agency meetings. The officer will identify strategic collaborations with non-state actors, elaborate annual work plans aligned with FAO's Strategic Framework, and implement collaborative work with partners. Additionally, the officer will provide support to staff at headquarters and decentralized offices regarding corporate requirements and methods related to partnerships. The role also involves advising FAO entities on policy discussions, overseeing the quality of partnership materials, planning capacity development activities, and producing annual reports on the private sector strategy's implementation. Other relevant duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as rural development, political science, international cooperation, development, business, economics, or related areas pertinent to FAO's mandate. A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in international cooperation, business with a focus on sustainability practices, donor programs, government institutions, or NGOs is required. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in English and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree, specifically a Master's degree or equivalent, in relevant fields such as rural development, political science, international cooperation, development, business, or economics. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of partnerships and collaborations within the context of FAO's mission and objectives.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least ten years of relevant experience in international cooperation and/or business, particularly in areas related to sustainability practices and public sector partnerships. Experience in donor programs, government institutions, other UN agencies, and civil society organizations is also essential. The role requires demonstrated results in partnership building and effective negotiations, particularly with multi-stakeholders in the areas of food security and social development.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with a requirement for intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish). Additional proficiency in another FAO official language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and partners.
