Job Overview: The Analyst, G&EI plays a crucial role within the Gender and Economic Inclusion team, which focuses on three main pillars: Access to Skills and Employment, Access to Finance and Entrepreneurship, and Access to Services. The primary responsibility of the Analyst is to provide technical support to G&EI specialists in designing and structuring projects that have a significant transition impact or gender additionality. This includes conducting sector assessments and contributing to the InvestEU projects, particularly in the context of the energy transition. The Analyst will also monitor the G&EI projects' portfolio to evaluate the achieved transition impact and contribute to various assessments, including Country Diagnostics and Sectoral Strategies, to inform policy dialogue related to G&EI issues across the EBRD's EU countries of operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will assist G&EI economists and specialists in managing relationships with Banking and other teams throughout all stages of project work. This includes project design, assessment, and policy engagement, as well as managing external consultants post-signing and monitoring. The Analyst will monitor and assess sector developments and structural reform progress in the Bank’s EU countries of operations, contributing to country diagnostics and analyzing the transition impact of the Bank’s operations. The role also involves conducting background research, drafting briefings and presentations, and maintaining relevant datasets related to the InvestEU programme. The Analyst will lead the monitoring of transition impact for 10-15 investment-linked Technical Cooperation assignments annually, ensuring compliance with the EBRD’s obligations under the InvestEU Regulation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a master’s degree in economics, public policy, gender studies, or a related field. In exceptional cases, candidates with a bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience may be considered. Prior work experience in policy-oriented or applied microeconomics, particularly related to the InvestEU’s Social Investment and Skills window, is highly desirable. Strong analytical and quantitative skills are essential, along with proficiency in Excel and familiarity with database/analytic software such as Stata or MatLab. Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Romanian are required, and familiarity with the EBRD’s EU countries of operations is advantageous.
Educational Background: A master’s degree in a relevant field such as economics, public policy, or gender studies is preferred. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree may be considered if they have significant relevant work experience. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training related to gender studies, economic policy, or social inclusion.
Experience: The position requires prior work experience in policy-oriented or applied microeconomics, particularly in areas relevant to the InvestEU programme. Experience in banking, consultancy services, or roles that involve economic analysis and project management will be beneficial. Familiarity with the EBRD's operations and the socio-economic context of its EU countries of operations is also advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English and Romanian is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the EBRD’s EU countries of operations is considered an advantage, as it enhances the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contributes to effective communication in the region.
Additional Notes: This is a fixed-term position with a contract length of 2 years. The role is full-time, and the EBRD promotes a flexible working environment, expecting employees to work in the office 50% of the time.
