Job Overview: The Hospitality Services Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of Catering and Housing services for the CERN community. This position involves working under the supervision of the Housing Manager to provide practical and responsive operational support. The officer will help manage recurring activities, follow up on user requests, and coordinate with both internal stakeholders and external service providers. Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Hospitality Services Support Officer include supporting the operational follow-up of hospitality activities, which encompasses managing accommodation-related contracts, coordinating day-to-day services, addressing user requests, handling tickets, gathering feedback, and resolving service issues. The officer will also contribute to monitoring service quality, contract performance, and operational indicators. Additionally, the role requires coordination with internal stakeholders and external service providers to resolve operational issues and ensure effective communication. The officer will support the organization of catering services for significant events, such as the CERN Open Days 2027, ensuring that all hospitality needs are met efficiently and effectively.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Hospitality Services Support Officer position should possess a service-oriented mindset, demonstrating the ability to respond efficiently to operational needs while providing quality customer service. Good organizational skills are essential, as the officer will need to manage multiple operational topics simultaneously and communicate effectively with users, internal stakeholders, and external service providers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Word, is required. Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, or a related field. It is important that applicants have graduated within the last two years and have not previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract. Candidates without a university degree or those with a PhD are not eligible for this position.
Experience: The position requires a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in a relevant field such as Hospitality Management or Hotel Management. This experience should ideally include exposure to hospitality operations, customer service, or contract management, which will enable the officer to effectively support the operational needs of the CERN community.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English or French is mandatory, with a commitment to learn the other language being highly desirable. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication within the diverse CERN community and with external service providers.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is 24 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, and the position is fully onsite. The target start date for the role is January 1, 202
