The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Communications, Advocacy and Coordination Officer, contributing to the RCO's mission of supporting the UN's collective work in Kenya. The intern will be expected to engage in various tasks that involve researching and developing story ideas that highlight the connection between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Kenya's development priorities. This role will also involve preparing briefs, interview questions, and scripts for multimedia content, as well as filming and editing video footage for web and social media platforms. The intern will collaborate with RCO communications colleagues and the UN Communications Group, gaining valuable experience in a professional environment while contributing to impactful storytelling that resonates with the public and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at enhancing the RCO's communications efforts. Key duties include:

• Researching and developing story ideas that illustrate the connection between the SDGs and the daily lives of Kenyans.
• Supporting the preparation of briefs, interview questions, scripts, shot lists, and storyboards for various multimedia projects.
• Filming interviews and events using available production equipment, ensuring compliance with consent requirements.
• Editing footage into engaging products suitable for publication on web and social media platforms, adhering to UN branding and editorial standards.
• Creating motion graphics and multimedia explainers to simplify complex development evidence.
• Assisting in the coordination of practical production requirements for events and field visits.
• Supporting the maintenance and organization of digital assets, ensuring proper documentation and version control.
• Providing additional communications and coordination support as needed, consistent with the internship's learning objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have completed a recognized university degree program at the bachelor's, master's, or doctoral level. Candidates who are still enrolled and have not completed their degree are not eligible for this internship. While professional work experience is not required, relevant academic assignments, volunteer work, internships, freelance projects, and personal initiatives can demonstrate capability. Preferred fields of study include communications, journalism, film and television production, multimedia, digital media, media production, photography, graphic design, visual arts, public relations, development studies, international relations, or closely related disciplines. Applicants should possess a demonstrable ability to plan, film, and edit video or multimedia content, and must provide a portfolio or showreel showcasing their contributions.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes a completed degree from a recognized university in relevant fields such as communications, journalism, multimedia production, or related disciplines. Candidates must have graduated or completed their degree program prior to applying, as those still enrolled are not eligible. This internship is a full-time, in-person position based at the RCO Kenya office in Nairobi for a duration of 6 months.
