Job Overview:
The Assistant Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer plays a crucial role in operationalizing UNHCR's strategic vision to align livelihoods and economic inclusion efforts with the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR). This position is essential in mobilizing additional actors and adopting a whole-of-society approach to strengthen refugee self-reliance and alleviate pressure on host countries. The officer will contribute to the promotion of economic inclusion of refugees, which is a key development area that supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the 2030 Agenda. The incumbent will work closely with various stakeholders, including government institutions, private sector partners, and development actors, to enhance ongoing livelihoods and economic inclusion programming through evidence-based and market-driven approaches. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities and mobilizing resources to support the economic integration of refugees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Officer will be responsible for exploring partnerships to facilitate the economic inclusion of refugees, advocating for their rights to work and access to economic opportunities. The officer will collaborate with the Protection Unit to assess the legal framework regarding the right to work and recommend advocacy initiatives for policy reform. Additionally, the incumbent will support regular information sharing and coordination among humanitarian, developmental, and governmental stakeholders, conducting assessments to identify investment opportunities that enhance economic inclusion. The officer will also provide technical assistance on livelihoods interventions, ensuring they are market-based and aligned with UNHCR's strategic objectives. Other duties include monitoring progress, mobilizing donors, and engaging with multi-functional teams to support the office's involvement in livelihoods and economic inclusion initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree with at least one year of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with no experience, or a doctorate degree with no experience. The fields of education should include Business Management, Socio-Economics, Development Economics, International Economics, Rural Development, Financial Management, or other relevant fields. Essential experience includes facilitating the economic inclusion of vulnerable groups in collaboration with various stakeholders, particularly in contexts relevant to livelihood programming such as financial inclusion, employment, and local economic development. Knowledge of the latest developments in the livelihoods sector and broader UN processes related to the SDGs and the Global Compact on Refugees is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree in fields such as Business Management, Socio-Economics, Development Economics, International Economics, Rural Development, Financial Management, or other relevant disciplines. Candidates with higher degrees (graduate or doctorate) are encouraged to apply, even if they lack work experience, as the position is open to recent graduates who meet the educational criteria.

Experience:
The position requires essential experience in facilitating the economic inclusion of vulnerable and marginalized groups, ideally in varied field contexts.
