Job Overview:
The Manager or Senior Manager for AI Diagnostics will play a crucial role in advancing CHAI's market shaping activities for AI-supported diagnostics, including AI-enabled point-of-care ultrasound (AI-POCUS). This position involves collaboration with CHAI’s global program teams, cross-cutting functional teams, and country teams, as well as external stakeholders. The Manager will be responsible for designing and executing global supply- and demand-side market shaping strategies for AI diagnostics in LMICs. This role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders, including governments, donors, and diagnostic companies, to coordinate strategy and execution of interventions. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, possess outstanding problem-solving abilities, and have excellent communication skills. They must be able to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a multicultural environment, demonstrating qualities such as humility, resourcefulness, and tenacity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Manager will support the design and execution of market shaping strategies to enhance access to AI diagnostic tools. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities to shape market dynamics, building relationships with relevant companies, supporting negotiations on pricing and supply terms, and coordinating access strategy with governmental and non-governmental organizations. The Manager will also liaise with CHAI’s global and country teams to develop market analysis, build the case for adoption of AI diagnostics, and support country readiness and product introduction. Additionally, the Manager will contribute to fundraising efforts, manage projects, and facilitate knowledge sharing within the organization. The role requires effective management of oneself and direct reports within a matrixed organization, as well as undertaking other responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Economics, Public Health, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required for those with an advanced degree, or 10 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in strategy consulting or a similarly fast-paced, results-oriented field is essential, ideally with a focus on market shaping, global health, or medtech. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage large projects and teams, possess excellent analytical skills, and have strong written and oral communication abilities. Exceptional interpersonal skills are necessary for building professional relationships in a multicultural environment. An entrepreneurial mindset and comfort operating independently in a rapidly evolving environment are also important.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Health, or a related field is required, with an advanced degree preferred. This educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of global health and market dynamics.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with an advanced degree or 10 years with a Bachelor’s degree. Candidates should have experience in strategy consulting or a similar field, with a focus on market shaping, global health, or medtech. Demonstrated project management experience and the ability to collaborate with remote teams across different geographies and time zones are essential.
Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages spoken in CHAI program countries, such as Swahili, French, or Hindi, is considered an advantage.
Additional Notes:
This position can be offered at either the Manager or Senior Manager level, depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. It can be based in the United States or in a CHAI program country, subject to approval and work authorization.
