Job Overview:
The position of Economic Development & Livelihoods-CALL FOR ROSTER is designed for national individual consultants who will contribute to the UNDP's mission in Lebanon. The role involves providing expert advice and support in the areas of economic development and livelihoods, particularly in the context of the ongoing challenges faced by the country. Consultants will be expected to engage in various projects aimed at enhancing economic opportunities, improving livelihoods, and fostering sustainable development practices. This position is part of a roster, meaning that selected candidates may be called upon as needed for specific projects or initiatives, allowing for flexibility and responsiveness to the evolving needs of the UNDP in Lebanon.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: conducting assessments of local economic conditions and identifying opportunities for development; designing and implementing economic development programs and initiatives; collaborating with local stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations; providing technical assistance and capacity building to local partners; monitoring and evaluating the impact of economic development projects; preparing reports and documentation related to project activities; and participating in meetings and workshops to share knowledge and best practices in economic development and livelihoods.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in economic development, with a proven track record of working on related projects. Required qualifications include excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and strong communication skills. Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Lebanon is essential, as is the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a dynamic environment.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree in economics, development studies, social sciences, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's competitiveness for the position. Additional certifications or training in project management, monitoring and evaluation, or related areas will be considered an asset.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in economic development, livelihoods programming, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of Lebanon or similar settings, is highly desirable. Proven experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building will be advantageous.
Languages:
Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory, as these are the primary languages of communication in Lebanon. Knowledge of French or other languages may be considered an asset, particularly in enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.

This position is classified as an individual contractor role, which may involve short-term contracts based on project needs. The position is expected to be full-time, with specific hours to be determined based on project requirements.
