Job Overview:
The position of Communications & Knowledge Management is designed to enhance the visibility and impact of UNDP's initiatives in Lebanon. The role involves developing and implementing communication strategies that effectively convey the organization's mission and projects to various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society, and the general public. The consultant will be responsible for creating content for various platforms, managing social media channels, and ensuring that all communications align with UNDP's branding and messaging guidelines. Additionally, the consultant will be expected to facilitate knowledge management processes, ensuring that lessons learned and best practices are documented and shared within the organization and with external partners. This role is crucial for fostering collaboration and enhancing the overall effectiveness of UNDP's work in Lebanon.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with UNDP's goals and objectives in Lebanon.
  • Create high-quality content for various communication channels, including reports, newsletters, social media, and press releases.
  • Manage UNDP's social media presence, ensuring timely and engaging posts that reflect the organization's work and impact.
  • Collaborate with project teams to gather information and insights for communication materials.
  • Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and events to promote knowledge sharing and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain relationships with media outlets and other stakeholders to enhance UNDP's visibility.
  • Support the documentation of lessons learned and best practices from UNDP projects to contribute to knowledge management efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, preferably within an international organization or development context.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear and compelling content for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and social media platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the development sector and UNDP's mission and values is an asset.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, international relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an advantage.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in communications or knowledge management is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful communication initiatives and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable, as it is essential for effective communication within the local context. Knowledge of French or other languages is a plus and can enhance the candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
This position is for national individual consultants and is part of a roster call, meaning that selected candidates may be engaged on a project basis as opportunities arise. The contract duration will vary depending on specific project needs, and the position is expected to be full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP's policies.
