Job Overview: The Associate Data Specialist will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing data related to the UN's development efforts in Kosovo. This position involves collaborating with various UN entities, government institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure effective data management and reporting. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing databases and data collection systems, analyzing trends, and preparing reports that summarize findings for management. The role requires a strong understanding of statistical methods and the ability to communicate complex data insights to diverse audiences. The Associate Data Specialist will also contribute to inter-agency coordination and knowledge sharing to advance common priorities within the UN Kosovo Team (UNKT).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
Analyze and interpret trends or patterns using statistical methods to identify relevant features in structured data sources.
Improve processes for data analytics tasks; acquire and clean data from various sources and maintain databases.
Stay updated on UN efforts to co-design digital tools and dashboards that track progress against the national SDG indicator framework.
Develop reports, dashboards, or tools to summarize findings and convey information effectively.
Compile data insights and prepare supporting materials for stakeholder communications.
Assist in data preparation, verification, and routine reporting tasks, and support administrative aspects of the work plan.
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as computer science, data science, analytics, statistics, applied mathematics, information management, or social sciences. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate complex technical matters effectively.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) may be accepted with additional qualifying experience. The educational background should be in areas related to data management, statistics, or social sciences, ensuring a solid foundation for the responsibilities of the position.
Experience: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in data management, analysis, or related fields is required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate complex technical matters to diverse audiences. Experience in quality assurance of data analysis outputs and project management is desirable, as well as the ability to assess data accuracy and consistency through validation processes.
Languages: English and Albanian are mandatory working languages for this position, with proficiency at UN Level II required in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Knowledge of Serbian is desirable, also at UN Level II. Candidates must demonstrate their language skills according to the UN Language Framework, ensuring effective communication within the UN Secretariat and with stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a Fixed Term position available for a duration of one year, with no expectation of renewal.
