Job Overview:
The Project Manager position at WFP is a critical role that involves overseeing complex initiatives and projects across various business lines, particularly in the realm of technology and digital services. The incumbent will report to the Project Manager lead and will be responsible for managing stakeholders, external partners, and project teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality IT solutions. This role requires a strong focus on user acceptability, technical usability, and domain suitability, as well as the ability to manage resources, schedules, and financials throughout the project management cycle. The Project Manager will also be tasked with implementing change management plans, ensuring adherence to project management methodologies, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders to manage expectations and project progress.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Manager will lead and coordinate a portfolio of complex projects, acting as the central focal point for business partners within the Technology and Digital Services (TEC) division. Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading project management activities, ensuring all documentation is prepared and available for stakeholders, and overseeing the roll-out of projects.
  • Gathering and validating project requirements using a Human-Centered Design (HCD) approach, defining the Minimum Viable Product (MVP), and establishing a governance structure for projects.
  • Managing project work-plans, risks, and issues, including monitoring progress against baselines, identifying success factors, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Managing project budgets and resources, preparing accurate budget estimates, and ensuring business agreement on budget proposals.
  • Ensuring adherence to project management methodologies established by the Project Management Office (PMO) and contributing to the development of practices and frameworks to strengthen project management processes.
  • Performing other duties as required to support the successful delivery of projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology, or related fields. Project Management education or certification is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project management, with a proven track record of managing and delivering full project cycles, particularly in IT-related projects. Knowledge of project management methodologies, both Waterfall and Agile, as well as experience with project management software tools, is essential. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of IT software development and data analytics, along with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and interact effectively with various levels of management and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Economics, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Candidates with additional project management certifications or specialized training in project management methodologies will have an advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in project management, demonstrating a strong ability to manage and deliver projects from inception to completion. Experience in managing IT-related projects and working with cross-functional teams is crucial. Candidates should also have a history of successfully navigating complex project environments and delivering results on time and within budget.

Languages:
Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory for this position. Additionally, candidates with intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese will be considered desirable. Proficiency in multiple languages can enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse WFP environment.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a regular consultancy contract (CST) Level II, with a duration of 11 months. The role is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.
