Job Overview:
The Communication Consultant will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and impact of UN Women’s Global Supply Chain Coalition (GSCC) and Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs). Reporting to the Head of the WEPs and GSCC Secretariats, the Consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that effectively convey the initiatives' messages and engage a broader audience. The role involves creating compelling content for various platforms, managing social media channels, and ensuring that all communications align with UN Women’s branding standards. The Consultant will also monitor communication trends and analytics to refine strategies and maximize outreach effectiveness. This position is part-time and remote, allowing for flexibility while contributing to significant global initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality in the private sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a GSCC communication and outreach strategy, ensuring clear and compelling messaging across all platforms.
  • Strengthen the GSCC visual identity in collaboration with designers, ensuring alignment with the WEPs brand book.
  • Update and execute the communications plan to enhance GSCC visibility based on key audiences and channels.
  • Support internal private sector engagement processes through effective communication tasks.
  • Monitor communication trends and adjust strategies for relevance and impact.
  • Produce and manage content for newsletters, social media, and websites, ensuring timely dissemination.
  • Lead the regular updates of the GSCC webpage content and structure.
  • Collaborate with GSCC members to gather inputs and stories for publication.
  • Develop communication plans and promotional materials for GSCC events and campaigns, ensuring cohesive branding. 1
  • Document and showcase member achievements and impact stories through multimedia content. 1
  • Analyze and interpret website data and analytics to assess content effectiveness. 1
  • Contribute to regular progress reports on GSCC communication impact and results.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a relevant field is required.
  • A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, or advocacy is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365, SharePoint, and web-based management systems is required.
  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva is essential.
  • Knowledge of SEO, web analytics, and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is an asset.
  • Experience in media relations and engagement with journalists is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with women’s rights, human rights, or international development is an asset.
  • Experience working within the UN system is advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. This educational background ensures that the candidate has a solid foundation in communication principles and practices necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, advocacy, or related fields. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies, manage content across various platforms, and engage with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with the UN system and experience in gender equality initiatives will be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's suitability for the role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other UN official languages is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of outreach efforts.

Additional Notes:
This position is part-time and remote, allowing for flexibility in work hours and location. The contract duration is for 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
