Job Overview:
The Regional Compliance Manager position is crucial for overseeing and managing corporate compliance affairs within the Regional Directorate for East & Southern Africa. This role involves developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures to prevent fraud, corruption, and conflicts of interest. The successful candidate will lead compliance officers and focal points in various program countries, ensuring adherence to WHH's global compliance standards. The position requires a proactive approach to compliance management, including training staff, conducting investigations, and collaborating with various departments to ensure a comprehensive compliance framework. The role is designed for someone who can navigate complex compliance issues in a multicultural environment and is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

Required Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as Law, Management, Administration, Audit, Finance, or Accounting. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of corporate compliance and risk management in a humanitarian context.
Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of professional experience in a compliance-related role. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing compliance issues and implementing compliance programs, preferably within the humanitarian sector or similar environments. Experience in training and capacity building is also highly valued.
Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 1 year and good prospects for extension. The successful candidate will be employed under national terms and conditions applicable to their duty station. Candidates must apply for the duty station in the country where they are legally authorized to work, as the position does not provide for international relocation or work permit/visa sponsorship. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage Corporate Compliance across WHH’s Regional Directorate East & Southern Africa, focusing on fraud prevention, conflicts of interest, and data protection.
- Provide functional leadership to compliance staff and focal points, ensuring the implementation of WHH’s global compliance policies.
- Strengthen WHH’s Corporate Compliance Management Program by establishing effective processes for prevention, detection, and response to compliance issues.
- Conduct training sessions for Country Office staff and partners, maintaining training records for compliance purposes.
- Ensure that sensitive compliance complaints are properly managed through WHH’s global Complaints Response Mechanism.
- Initiate and oversee investigations into sensitive compliance cases within the region.
- Collaborate with Legal & Compliance at Head Office and other relevant functions such as HR, IT, Finance, and Project Management.
- Advise Regional Management and Country Directors on compliance-related strategic and operational matters.
- Represent WHH Compliance in external meetings and networks as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- A university degree in Law, Management, Administration, Audit, Finance/Accounting, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in a compliance role, with a strong understanding of compliance risk management.
- Familiarity with the humanitarian context and experience in multicultural environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to improve processes and utilize relevant tools effectively.
- Experience in training and capacity building, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High integrity, initiative, self-organization, attention to detail, and resilience under pressure.
