Job Overview:
The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Medical Coordinator position at Relief International is a critical role within the Programs team, specifically focused on delivering lifesaving health services in North Darfur. This position is based in Tawila and involves travel to other locations in North Darfur as security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security conditions permit. The Medical Coordinator will provide technical and clinical leadership for paediatric and medical services in RI-supported health facilities. The role encompasses a combination of direct clinical care, strategic oversight, quality assurance, mentoring, and health systems strengthening. The Medical Coordinator will work closely with the Ministry of Health, program teams, and health partners to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and accountable health services while enhancing the capacity of national healthcare staff. This position is initially a short-term role, expected to last less than six months, and is classified as requiring enhanced pre-employment checks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Providing overall technical leadership and oversight of paediatric and medical services across RI-supported secondary and primary healthcare facilities.
• Delivering and supervising high-quality paediatric clinical care, which includes emergency case management, inpatient services, stabilization of severe cases, and coordination of referrals.
• Mentoring, coaching, and building the capacity of doctors, nurses, and clinical teams through supportive supervision, bedside training, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Leading clinical quality assurance processes, which involve conducting audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, implementing infection prevention measures, and enhancing patient safety.
• Strengthening coordination with government authorities, health partners, referral facilities, and humanitarian stakeholders to improve service quality and ensure continuity of care.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Medical Coordinator position must possess the following qualifications:

• A Medical Doctor (MD) degree with a postgraduate qualification in Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Tropical Medicine, or another relevant clinical specialty.
• Substantial proven experience in providing paediatric clinical care, emergency case management, and inpatient services, particularly in humanitarian, development, or public health settings.
• Strong experience in clinical supervision, mentorship, capacity building, and quality improvement of healthcare professionals.
• A sound knowledge of WHO guidelines, humanitarian health standards, clinical protocols, and integrated healthcare programming.
• Experience working with government health authorities, NGOs, UN agencies, and health-sector coordination mechanisms.
• Strong leadership, data analysis, communication, report-writing, and stakeholder management skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Medical Coordinator position includes a Medical Doctor (MD) degree, complemented by a postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical specialty such as Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Tropical Medicine. This advanced education is essential to ensure the candidate possesses the necessary clinical knowledge and skills to effectively lead medical services in challenging environments.

Experience:
The position requires substantial experience in providing paediatric clinical care, emergency case management, and inpatient services. Additionally, experience in Sudan or similar humanitarian contexts is desirable, and proficiency in Arabic language skills would be an asset, enhancing the ability to engage with local communities and health authorities.
