UNICEF employs a diverse workforce and offers various opportunities for professional and personal development, emphasizing the importance of building careers that contribute to the well-being of children and communities globally.

Job Overview:
The UNICEF Internship Program in the State of Palestine provides qualified university students with a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the logistics sector under the guidance of experienced UNICEF staff. The internship aims to offer structured learning opportunities while contributing to the Supply & Logistics unit, which is currently undergoing significant reorganization and managing a high volume of transactions. Interns will engage in various tasks, including document collection and verification, data entry, and uploading documents into specialized databases for donation processing and approval. The role involves monitoring submission progress, completing necessary documentation, and updating requesters on the status of their submissions. Interns will receive mentorship to help them understand their tasks, prioritize activities, and align their outputs with organizational standards and priorities, thereby enhancing their knowledge of UNICEF operations and logistics, programming approaches, and partnership coordination.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Clerk intern will be responsible for several key deliverables under the supervision of the Supply and Logistics Officer. These include: receiving, reviewing, and completing documentation for donation approval requests in the UN 2720 system; creating submissions in the UN 2720 system and liaising with requesters and focal points until final approval is obtained; monitoring submission statuses in both the UN 2720 system and COGAT’s MATBASH and Mercury systems; following up with requesters to complete missing documents and addressing queries raised by the UN 2720 team; creating new submissions in the Ministry of Environment database as required; inserting and updating transactions in the Supply and Logistics Tracking database; informing requesters of submission statuses; downloading QR codes from the UN 2720 system; contributing to reports on approved, pending, and rejected submissions; and providing support to team members during high workloads or absences.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in an advanced or undergraduate university degree program in a relevant field such as Supply Management, Contracting, Logistics, Administration, or a related discipline. They should demonstrate excellent academic performance, as evidenced by recent academic records. Additionally, candidates must not have immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office or in the line of authority to whom the intern will report. The ability to organize documentation and files under high volume and time pressure is essential, along with proficiency in computerized requests and approvals systems. Strong English language skills, both oral and written, are required, as well as the ability to maintain good relationships with stakeholders and respond positively to feedback.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in a relevant field, such as Supply Management, Contracting, Logistics, or Administration. The educational background should reflect a strong understanding of the principles and practices related to logistics and supply chain management, as well as administrative processes that support these functions.

Experience:
While prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new environments. Any previous internships or volunteer work related to logistics, administration, or project management will be considered an asset, as they can provide valuable context and skills relevant to the internship role.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, both in oral and written forms. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly languages relevant to the local context or the regions in which UNICEF operates.

Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last for six months, beginning in September 2026, with the possibility of extension. This position is based in East Jerusalem, State of Palestine. UNICEF promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment and encourages applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender, nationality, or background. The organization offers a range of benefits, including paid parental leave and reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities. All selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks, and adherence to UNICEF's standards and principles is mandatory.
