Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Mayors Challenge initiative in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. This initiative is part of the SDG Local Action project, which aims to address urban challenges through innovative solutions. The selected candidate will coordinate the day-to-day activities of the project, ensuring that all tasks are executed in accordance with the approved work plans, timelines, and budgets. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for developing detailed implementation plans, engaging with various stakeholders, and providing technical support to ensure the effective integration of the project's components, which include circular economy practices, waste management, and women's economic empowerment. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining a focus on achieving project objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Supporting project implementation by coordinating daily activities and ensuring adherence to work plans and budgets.
  • Developing and updating detailed implementation plans and schedules for decentralized paint production facilities and community engagement initiatives.
  • Providing technical inputs to integrate circular economy and waste management components into the project.
  • Analyzing project progress and recommending adjustments to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coordinating with Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam, UNDP India, and other partners to resolve implementation challenges and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
  • Managing relationships with project partners, service providers, and stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Monitoring project activities and outputs, ensuring quality and timeliness, and preparing reports for stakeholders.
  • Facilitating knowledge sharing and documenting best practices to enhance project visibility and impact.
  • Conducting monitoring visits and consultations with beneficiaries to assess project outcomes and challenges.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the above fields combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be considered. The role requires strong project management skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to the principles of sustainable development and gender equality.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant field is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the same fields, along with two years of relevant experience, will also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in public policy, social sciences, or development studies, equipping candidates with the necessary analytical and strategic thinking skills to effectively manage projects and engage with stakeholders.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, implementation, urban development, or public service innovation. Experience working with the United Nations System or other multilateral agencies is highly desirable. Familiarity with circular economy practices, waste management, and women's livelihoods creation will be advantageous. Candidates with experience in monitoring, evaluation, and data collection will be preferred, as these skills are essential for assessing project outcomes and ensuring accountability.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Hindi is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it enhances communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.
