Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: extracting and inputting data from various sources into financial or accounting systems; responding to accounting, budget, or financial queries from staff; assisting in payroll preparation by executing validity checks on monthly payroll results; reviewing all types of payments from purchase to payment requests to ensure they are duly authorized and supported by necessary documentation; creating new Vendor Accounts in PRISM; verifying vendor requests for accuracy and compliance with IOM finance policies; performing claim verifications against documentation to ensure proper authorization of purchases/services; preparing necessary receipt and journal vouchers; assisting in the preparation of budget, accounting, financial, and statistical reports; providing assistance to staff services such as travel and expense claims; ensuring proper filing of all posted payments and accounting documents; managing the office's Petty Cash; and performing other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Finance Assistant position must possess a High School diploma with four years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finances, or related fields with two years of relevant professional experience. It is essential that candidates have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Previous experience with SAP is considered a distinct advantage. Candidates should demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to organize paperwork methodically, discretion, client orientation, patience, and a willingness to learn new things. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural setting is also advantageous.
