Job Overview:
The position of Consultant(e) national(e) pour l'élaboration de la Stratégie d'égalité de genre involves the development of a comprehensive gender equality strategy for UNDP Togo for the period 2026-202
  • The consultant will be responsible for conducting a thorough analysis of the current gender dynamics in Togo, identifying key areas for intervention, and proposing actionable strategies to promote gender equality. This role requires a deep understanding of gender issues, the ability to engage with various stakeholders, and the capacity to translate complex gender concepts into practical strategies. The consultant will work closely with UNDP staff and local partners to ensure that the strategy aligns with national priorities and international commitments to gender equality. The expected outcome is a well-researched and actionable strategy that addresses the specific needs and challenges faced by women and marginalized groups in Togo.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of existing gender policies and strategies in Togo, including national laws, regulations, and international commitments.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and women's groups, to gather insights and perspectives on gender issues.
  • Analyze data and research findings related to gender equality in Togo, identifying gaps and opportunities for intervention.
  • Develop a draft gender equality strategy that includes specific objectives, actions, and indicators for monitoring progress.
  • Facilitate workshops and consultations to validate the draft strategy with stakeholders and incorporate their feedback.
  • Finalize the gender equality strategy and prepare a presentation for UNDP management and partners.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to UNDP Togo in the implementation of the strategy, including capacity building and training as needed.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
  • A strong background in gender studies, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in developing gender equality strategies or policies, preferably in a development context.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with UNDP's work and gender equality frameworks is an asset.
  • Proficiency in project management and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in gender studies, social sciences, international development, or a related field is required for this position. Additional certifications or training in gender analysis, policy development, or project management would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in gender equality, women's empowerment, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly the UN, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing gender strategies or programs is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the official language of Togo. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages would also be beneficial.
