Job Overview:
The position involves supporting the WFP Programme Unit in enhancing knowledge and capacity regarding the connections between biodiversity, school feeding, food security, and education in preparation for COP17 in Armenia. The Online Volunteer will be responsible for developing advocacy materials, designing and facilitating training sessions and workshops for WFP staff, government counterparts, and partners. This role is pivotal in promoting knowledge sharing on transformative home-grown school feeding approaches that integrate biodiversity, thereby contributing to raising awareness and fostering collaboration in sustainable food systems and resilience.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong communication skills, particularly in developing educational and advocacy materials. They should have a solid understanding of the linkages between biodiversity, food security, and education. Experience in training and facilitation is essential, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with the WFP's mission and objectives, as well as knowledge of sustainable food systems, is highly desirable.
Educational Background:
A background in environmental science, education, food security, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant academic qualifications that demonstrate their understanding of the complexities surrounding biodiversity and food systems.
Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in developing educational materials, conducting training sessions, and facilitating workshops. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of food security and biodiversity, will be an advantage. Familiarity with the WFP's initiatives and programs is also beneficial.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all materials and communications will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of Armenian or other languages relevant to the region would be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to communicate effectively with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
The position is a volunteer role, and while it may not offer financial compensation, it provides valuable experience in international development and the opportunity to contribute to significant global initiatives. - Designing and delivering training sessions for WFP staff, partners, and government counterparts on the importance of biodiversity and its connections to school feeding and food security.
- Facilitating online workshops and co-creation sessions for teams presenting the School Feeding Programme during COP17 in October 202
- Specific outputs include: - For Volunteer 1: Four knowledge and advocacy materials, including presentations for WFP staff, government counterparts, and partners, as well as a comprehensive factsheet. - For Volunteer 2: Learning materials and briefs based on best practices, including presentations for WFP staff, government counterparts, and partners.
