Job Overview:
The position of Accelerated Disease Control Consultant is aimed at supporting UNICEF's mission to enhance immunization and public health goals by addressing vaccine-preventable diseases and epidemic threats. The consultant will be part of a pre-screened experts pool established to streamline recruitment for technical assistance in disease control and outbreak preparedness. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including UNICEF country offices and WHO, to provide timely and effective technical support. The consultant will focus on accelerating the elimination and control of priority diseases, strengthening outbreak preparedness, and supporting immunization activities in high-risk contexts. This includes working on diseases such as measles, diphtheria, cholera, and Ebola, and contributing to the development of vaccination strategies and outbreak response plans.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in immunization programs, vaccine-preventable disease control, outbreak preparedness and response, or health emergencies. They should have demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance at various levels, including country, regional, or global. Experience in supporting immunization campaigns and working with international organizations such as UNICEF, WHO, and Gavi is essential. Strong analytical and report-writing skills, as well as excellent stakeholder coordination and communication skills, are also required.
Educational Background:
A university degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, Immunization, or a related field is required. An advanced university degree (Master's degree) is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and knowledge in the relevant areas.
Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically a minimum of 8 years in relevant fields. This experience should include work in immunization programs, outbreak response, and disease elimination efforts. Candidates should have a proven track record of providing technical assistance and working collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government entities and international organizations.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of French is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in diverse contexts and with various partners.

- Supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of vaccination activities, including Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIAs) and outbreak response immunization (ORI).
- Conducting immunity gap analyses and risk assessments to inform targeted interventions.
- Providing technical support during outbreak responses and emergency contexts.
- Supporting the development and implementation of outbreak preparedness and response plans.
- Conducting after-action reviews and documenting lessons learned.
- Contributing to operational research and program evaluation to strengthen disease control strategies.
- Collaborating with national counterparts and other partners to ensure effective technical assistance is provided based on country needs.
