Job Overview:
The Project Associate will be responsible for the implementation of public health activities in Guinea, under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the National Public coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Health Coordinator. The role involves coordinating day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of public health project activities, with a focus on International Health Regulations, disease surveillance, outbreak preparedness and response, immunization support, and strengthening public health capacities at points of entry and border communities. The Project Associate will also support the development and operationalization of work plans, schedules, and monitoring tools, ensuring timely delivery of planned activities. This position requires regular liaison with various health authorities and partners to facilitate coordination and information sharing, as well as the collection and analysis of project data to support evidence-based decision-making and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Associate include coordinating the implementation of public health activities, monitoring project progress, and ensuring compliance with work plans and budgets. The role involves preparing and maintaining databases and information management tools, drafting project updates and reports, and providing logistical support for trainings and workshops. The Project Associate will also monitor expenditures, provide technical guidance to field staff, participate in field visits, and support emergency preparedness and response activities. Additionally, the role includes contributing to project proposals and ensuring proper filing and archiving of project documents. The Project Associate will facilitate information exchange between public health projects and other IOM units to promote coherence and visibility.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a school diploma with four years of relevant experience in public health or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Medicine, Social or Development Sciences, or a related field with two years of relevant professional experience. Experience in liaising with governmental public health authorities and knowledge of the Guinean health system is essential. Practical experience in data management and proficiency in computer applications is required. Familiarity with vulnerable populations and prior work experience with international organizations or NGOs is advantageous.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a school diploma with four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received their education from recognized and reputable institutions.
Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant professional experience, specifically in public health, health programs, or community development. Experience in liaising with governmental public health authorities and familiarity with the Guinean health system is crucial. Candidates should also have practical experience in data entry and management, as well as experience working in multicultural environments, particularly with vulnerable or mobile populations. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or NGOs is considered an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in French is required for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of a national language is considered an advantage. All IOM staff members are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages, which include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes:
The position is subject to funding confirmation and may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months. Appointment is contingent upon certification of medical fitness, accreditation, residency or visa requirements, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security clearances.
